For The Fosters' Callie and Brandon, 'Things Go From Bad to Worse,' Says Maia Mitchell

While Brandon is confessing, Callie is on lockdown at a group home run by guest star Rosie O’Donnell.

“Callie’s not able to leave the house except for particular reasons,” explains stars Maia Mitchell. “And she’s just been in trouble, so she’s just been told that her family won’t be able to come and visit, so she won’t be able to see Jude.”

Needless to say, “she’s not feeling the greatest,” continues Mitchell, “and then Brandon drops the ‘I love you’ bomb to the family and doesn’t know what else to do, so he comes and tries to visit Callie.”

While their reunion might seem like a welcome moment, judging from their hug glimpsed in new promos, rules are broken in the process — beware Rosie O’Donnell’s wrath! — “and things go from bad to worse” for the twosome.

But that’s just par for the course for Callie and Brandon, who “will always have difficulties,” says Mitchell. “You see them go on a bit of a journey and really try to find a good balance.”

At least things are looking up for another troubled relationship. “I think Jude starts to really warm up to Brandon, and he understands the love that he feels for his sister,” shares Hayden Byerly. “He doesn’t like it, but he understands it.”

  1. K. says:

I really like Brandon and Callie together but these are teens on ABC Family show so they’ll have them break-up and get together hard to tell how many times….Also if he really loves her so much he should go live with his dad and that would settle the living together thing!!!

    • TheFostersFan says:

Yeah that’s what I thought too, but Brandon already suggested that he goes and lives with Mike. Stef already said that it wasn’t an option.

  2. Clara Oswin Oswald says:

I hate Brandon, I can’t stand him and his sudden love for Callie

  3. Columbus says:

Really want Jude and Callie to get their forever family with The Fosters. Brandon needs to find another girlfriend.

  4. ChaCha Fance says:

I’d like to see these two together. They seem like they’d be a cute couple. I understand the no fraternizing rule, but there are plenty options like someone above said – Brandon can go live with his dad.

  5. TL says:

This show is just plain AWESOME! Families need to sit and watch this together.

  6. Lee says:

really cant stand brandon or brandon/callie together. Thought the show was good to begin with, but the ever present need to have a romantic teen paring (and in this case, a really gross and illegal one) really makes me cringe!
The show has so much potential in getting another message out, but instead they choose to write to the annoying tweens who ships everything boy/girl.

    • Lauren says:

That is a gross generalisation. I don’t ship every boy/girl couple I see on tv, and some of my favourite ships are same sex, so I have no idea where you are making these assumptions from. I watch the show with a friend of mine, both of us ship Brandon and Callie and both of us have a pretty diverse range of ships. Just because you don’t ship Brandon and Callie doesn’t mean other people don’t see it’s merits, and they don’t have to be teenagers who ship every boy and girl together. I see the problems in them seeing each other but they clearly care for each other deeply and the actors have amazing chemistry.

    • Kamz says:

It makes the show interesting….They made them pair up to generalize the show and have a romantic part. It also have new variety to watch for. The only thing that I want to know is how can they maintain the relationship between Brandon and Callie…..

    • MusicalCatharsis says:

First of all Lee, it’s not gross. They didn’t grow up together, they just met each other a few months previous. And secondly it’s not illegal, just frowned upon. The only thing that has legal merits right now are Callie’s probation and the restraining order against Brandon. Callie leaving the state…illegal. Brandon seeing Callie after before served with the RO papers…illegal. Falling in love with your supposed to be temporary or “last way station ever, ever, ever,” Foster sister is not illegal.

I would ask you to gently remove your head from between your cheeks, because you’re talking filth. And it doesn’t make any sense. So you’re not a Braille shipper, that’s fine. But it’s ABC family! and while this show has set the precedent for their standards higher than say, (secret life-ugh) they cater to teenagers, this you knew before even watching the show. You want something with more substance, watch regular ABC but no matter what show you turn to, there will be a boy and a girl, or two boys, or two girls, and that ever infamous love triangle…so get used to it.

  7. Jordan says:

This is an awesome series and its very clever of the person to think of
callie and brandon being together, and they look so cute together. So keep up the good work.:-))

  8. Kani says:

Brandon and Callie awesome together love them and the show.

  9. benjamin says:

I love this show…and the fact that Brandon and callie have this unconditional love deep inside that should have no conditions period….I really hope the writers continue to work on the love and show people that unconditional love has no conditions….

  10. Reanna says:

I hope callie and brandon get back together soon they look cute together

  11. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz says:

If Brandon really loved Callie he would stay away. Not because it’s best of him but because it’s best for her. If he truly loved her than he would put her own needs before his. Think about it a high school boyfriend vs a home which one is more important at the moment since just a bit before Callie was homeless. What he has is an obsession with Callie. At act of true love would have been like the time that Callie ran away because she didn’t want her kiss with Brandon jeopardize Jude’s chances of getting adopted. She put Jude’s needs before her own.
