Jamie McShane, who played Sgt. Hill on the TNT cop drama, is joining the ABC Family series in a recurring role, as Callie and Jude’s father.

After being incarcerated for killing the kids’ mother in a drunk driving accident, “Callie found out in the season premiere that he’s been out of prison for a year and hadn’t reached out to them,” exec producer Peter Paige tells TVLine, “so she’s wondering where he is and if he’s done with them forever.”

The short answer to that question may be: Uh-oh, no, he isn’t. Noting that McShane could be around for “multiple seasons,”   Paige teased, “As we move forward with this idea that Jude and Callie are going to be adopted, they have to get parental rights signed off on, so….”

McShane’s other TV credits include Sons of Anarchy, CBS’ Vegas and My Name Is Earl.

The Fosters airs Mondays at 9.8c.

With Callie and Jude’s father coming on this could make for a good story. He may have a problem with 2 lesbians raising his kids.Plus i’m sure stuff like this happens in real life too as biological parents come back into the picture.

This is already such a good season. That last scene where Callie purposefully got herself arrested because she couldn’t make it on her own broke me and it wasn’t even played up as a sad scene.

      • Aimee says:

        Yes. It was heartbreaking.

        • LDSK says:

I agree. It took me back to that first scene in the premier episode when Lena is trying to decide if she should take her and Callie gives her a look that is so desperate it made me want to crawl through the television and give her a hug.

  2. Tiffany says:

    I hope they get adopted

  3. Dav says:

I was wondering how they were going to keep up the adoption drama…this is definitely a good way to do it.

Just so long as Callie and Jude are adopted by The Fosters…all is good.

not to be notpicky or anything but it was the WINTER premiere not season premiere that it happened in. Just sayin’ as in the continuation of season 1 not a whole new season. also i totally figured that they were gonna cast someone as their father when they first introduced him and then when callie called the prison i knew for sure he was gonna be in the show. I just hope he doesnt interfere with the Brallie relationship ;)

  7. Sierra says:

If there father gets out of jail and keeps them then Branden and Callie can be together sooo i am all for it lol
