On Friday, Jan. 10 at 10/9c, Syfy will raise the curtain on its latest original scripted series, Helix — and TVLine has an exclusive guide to “Who’s who” in this chilling thriller.
The premise: Scientists from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are deployed to a cutting-edge research facility nestled in the arctic, to investigate a possible outbreak. In addition to the deadly threat, extremely remote location and maze-like subterranean confines, for good measure there’s also personal drama at hand, seeing as Dr. Alan Farragut, the man leading the CDC effort, has complicated ties not just to a member of his team but also to someone at the research lab.

Will the CDC be able to comprehend, let alone treat, what they discover? If the virus isn’t airborne, how is it transmitted? How many hidden agendas are in play? Take a moment to meet the characters of Helix, which is executive-produced by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), showrunner Steven Maeda (Lost) and Lynda Obst (Contact). And our advice to you: Watch this on a big-screen TV, with the lights out.
