Was Good Wife Kiss Sloppy? Huh, Homeland? A Scandalous Conflict of Interest? And More TV Qs

Good WifeWe’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including The Good Wife, Homeland, Scandal and Supernatural!

1 | Now that she’s dyed her hair blonde, is Dracula‘s Katie McGrath a ringer for Keira Knightley or what?

2 | Really, Saturday Night Live? No Scandal sketch? Did you even stop to imagine the amazing things Bobby Moynihan coulda done as Huck?

3 | We get that The Good Wife‘s Will is feeling reborn, but French-kissing his one-night stand in full view of the entire office seemed wildly out of character, no?

4 | Not to add yet another ‘ship to Once Upon a Time‘s crowded harbor, but did we feel some “electricity” between Regina and Rumple as they conspired to beat Pan?

5 | Anyone else still having trouble buying Revenge‘s Aiden as Emily’s great, big love? And how proud were you of Nolan for finally standing up to Ems?

Dina-Behrooz-Araz-24Season4-Ep96 | Jessica posed a good question in Sunday’s Homeland: Who the hell is Angela?! Also: TVLine reader Lyn asks: “Carrie is supposed to be a couple months pregnant, yet when she was in the hospital and they were treating her no one did a pregnancy test before putting her through treatments and prescribing her medication?” Meanwhile, Hank notes: “Wasn’t Carrie binge-drinking? While she’s pregnant?” And who wants to be the one to tell little Behrooz that he’s going to end up being raised by international terrorist Dina Araz?

7 | We loved How I Met Your Mother‘s proposal scene, but weren’t you expecting one of Ted’s big, romantic speeches? And how much more impactful would it have been had we gotten to know/see more of The Mother before the big moment?

8 | How is it that Beauty and the Beast‘s Cat can juuust about hold her own with beasts when needed, yet it takes multiple tranqs to tame Vincent?

12 | On The Mindy Project, what’s with Dr. L’s frequent references to owning a handgun? And is anyone else hoping Graham Yost caught Timothy Olyphant’s guest spot and immediately wrote some skateboarding/scar-touching/fence-jumping scenes into Justified‘s coming season?

13 | Not that we wanted to be in the room with them, but wasn’t it a bit silly of Today to keep Al Roker and Matt Lauer’s much-hyped on-air prostate exams behind closed doors Thursday – especially after former host Katie Couric’s famous on-air colonoscopy years ago?

14 | Could the Law & Order: SVU detectives have any more conspicuously-slash-obnoxiously stormed the music teacher’s classroom? What happened to demonstrating a modicum of tact before proving someone guilty?

15 | This week’s talking-to-animals Supernatural: Strangely funny, or just plain strange?

16 | Shouldn’t Arrow‘s Sara have looked just a little sun-burned after floating around the ocean in barely more than lingerie? Also, did Sara’s line to Dig, belittling his skills in a highly emasculating way, not sit well with anyone else? And what deep dark secret is Moira afraid will come out in a trial?

17 | How did The X Factor’s graphics department — whose screwup on contestants’ phone numbers forced the show to stage a second night of performances/voting in place of a results show — manage to play the intro package for Rion Paige prior to Rachel Potter’s Thursday encore? And while we’re discussing the struggling singing competition, is Simon going to spend the next two months trying to make Restless Road happen? (Spoiler Alert: They’re not going to happen.)

20 | Scandal fans: They can’t be serious with this campaign poster/hands-on-hips pose for Josie Marcus, can they?! And would a news organization really let the husband of a sitting president’s chief of staff interview a White House hopeful?

  1. I loved this week’s Supernatural. It was hilarious!

  2. Martina says:

I can’t believe you left out the biggest question of all, what happened to Mike & Molly’s baby?

  3. hmm says:

there were so many wrong, stupid, awful, WTF moments on GLEE last night. even by glee standard’s, it was pretty awful. and that much teen nudity kind of makes you wonder if sue has a point about will’s weird relationship with his students.

also, why make a huge point about the rival choir’s massive budget, then have the final song of the episode feature an intricate jungle set built for no reason!? THIS SHOW #smh

  4. mayiread says:

Most of Glees episodes claim “Be who you are”
Last night punished a girl for it.
I know it’s Glee, and you suspend logic, but as Gob Bluth often said “COME ON!”

    • scooby says:

He pressures her for sex because apparently anything else is boring, then swears he’s not pressuring her, then says he’s been more than patient (how’s that not acting like he feels like enough’s enough and it’s time to put out?) and after she stands her ground he goes and cheats. She gets suspended from glee club for being herself instead of wearing a bikini? Weird twisted messages to young girls.

  5. Mike says:

I’m still annoyed with SVU. No matter how horrible those girls were to the music teacher one thing was never really addressed. While there is no excuse for what they did, how you treat people matters. He fueled that fire. And really never realized/cared about it. I just think that should have been worked into the show. Do I feel bad for him? sure. But treating people like crap can come back to bite you. :(

    • Sheila says:

Did he treat them badly? Or did he just tell talentless brats that they were talentless?

    • neha says:

He didn’t treat them like crap – that was his JOB. If he wanted to make more money, he could have kept them as clients and still consulted. By telling them that they were never going to have a future as singers, he was trying to save them a lifetime of standing in America Idol auditions that they were never going to pass. You think that the judges at any of these shows are nicer? Or the professors at Julliard? Or music producers? Plus, accusing someone of rape and sending them to prison, where he would have inevitably gotten raped and beaten himself =/= “you’re not a good singer”.

    • Robby Horine says:

Just goes to show how far down the writing has gotten. Acting is still sharp as a tack (especially Mariska, as usual). But in the end, lazy writing will do it in.

  6. cjeffery7 says:

18 – well, technically he didnt in Neverland… he was just using her to get her powers.

  7. Matt says:

On Arrow, Moira is worried that Oliver and Thea will find out that she basically gave a stamp of approval to Malcolm Merlyn killing their father.

  8. Alichat says:

    2) Odd right? That seemed like a no-brainer!
    5) No way in the world I bought that line. I’ve maintained from the moment she said anything remotely about them being together that she’s just playing him. Keeping him close. And I’m more happy that she’s finally decided to include Nolan and Jack in the plan.
    6) That whole scene was terribly done. Dana is still a minor, and for Jessica to just let her move out with a complete stranger was too off the wall. I get that Dana may feel she needs to leave, but then why not move in with Grandma or an uncle or something. And what was with the exit?? She’s just going to pack up and leave and not. say. anything. Ridiculous. And don’t get me started on Carrie’s pregnancy that went completely overlooked by a full medical staff at the hospital.
    16) I thought it was rather cocky and childish of Sara to insult Dig that way. Take all the help you can get. If he’s willing to back you up, take it. I get the lone-fighter crap, but things are a little different now. I was wondering if Moira’s secret was that she knew Malcolm was going to kill her husband….but that just seems too obvious. If we find out that Oliver is Malcolm’s kid or something soapy like that, I will have to hurl!

  9. Daisy says:

    3. Good Wife – Way out of character. Especially when they’re in the middle of proving they’re still on top. Did not make sense.
    5. Revenge – I don’t know if Aiden is her great love or she just really wants him to be. He’s her safe harbor in all of this deceit she’s built around herself.
    10. New Girl – YES!
    15. Supernatural – So strange. But, despite the strangeness, I still really liked it. But yeah, really weird. And no French Connection. Nice try, though.

    • melissa says:

In will’s mind him and Alicia would end up 2gether and when she done what she id 2 him and the firm, he’s out 4 blood but so is Peter out 2 make him pay 4 sleeping with his wife it’s getting good

  10. Kim R says:

Good Wife….I think that is the point. It was way out of character for him. He is in “seek and destroy” mode. In Will’s mind…it’s a new day, a new Will. No more Mr. Nice Guy. :)

  11. Whatever says:

5.Revenge,Yay for Nolan it’s about time.
15.Supernatural, was hilarious this week !

  12. Zak says:

In regards to Arrow the secret is probably that Moira knew The Queen’s Gambit was going to go down with Robert and Oliver on it.

  13. DarkDefender says:

    #4.. Um No… No … And No.

  14. Cheryl says:

Supernatural was great!!!! I don’t remember laughing this hard, and enjoying the brotherly closeness and love this much in a long, long time! It was classic Supernatural at its best complete with a great MOTW case and it felt right and comfortable and the way the show used to make me feel watching it.

  15. wordsmith says:

Vampire Diaries question: What is the big deal of there being ONLY ONE cure, if it appears to be endlessly “reusable” – by my count, it’s now been used three times. Can’t they all just take turns draining each other until everybody that wants to be human is human again? and doesn’t this invalidate pretty much ALL of last season’s angst?

  16. nate says:

    • Alichat says:

WHY ARE YOU YELLING? And based on the number of pregnancy tests in that drawer, she was pregnant before she was committed, meaning she was pregnant while hospitalized.

      • Kella says:

Why do you assume she only took one test a day? Also, the amount of time that passes between episodes seems to vary. She could easily have slept with the random guy, think she was pregnant, and freak out by taking many tests. Also that is why she the tossed the meds and alcohol.

        • Alichat says:

There are more than 30 tests in that drawer, and I just don’t see her sitting there for the last three or four days and taking test after test after test after test. She’s only been out of the hospital for three days or so. Plus, Alex Gansa, the ep, said she’s been pregnant for a long time.

          • homewhat says:

Anyone else think that the baby is somehow Quinn’s (them doing it between the time jump off-air)? I’m getting a vibe between those too….

  17. wordsmith says:

Also, on a slightly less serious note, can we officially agree that Vampire Diaries has now turned into Orphan Black? And if so, can we please get a stuck-up suburban housewife Nina Dobrev?

    • dude says:

Nina Dobrev wishes she was as talented as Tatiana Maslany.

      • wordsmith says:

To be fair, we all wish that we were as freakishly talented as Tatiana Maslany. Though to her credit, when it comes to playing multiple characters, Nina is a whole lot closer than most of us.

        • Annemijk says:

Yeah at least Nina is doing a way better job than Paul Wesley, she is turning into a wonderfull actress over the last seasons to bad they keep giving Elena those horrible stories ( its 2013 can we please have some more female leads who are not defined by their dudes).

          • Michelle says:

Um, Nina is given a lot of great material to work with and plays her doppelgangers well, yes. Paul hasn’t been given as good material as she has but has been executing greatly (I cannot count how many times his delivery made me laugh last night as Silas)! I feel defensive that you had to compare. Paul is one of the strongest actors of that show.

          • murley says:

I have to agree with Paul Wesley being one of the best actors on the show. Nina has done an amazing job with Elena, Katharine, Vamp Elena and no-humanity Elena but I have also loved Paul as Stefan, no-humanity Stefan, Silas and amnesia Stefan. Both have proven their range and subtlety in my opinion.

  18. Lisa says:

Supernatural was great but then again, it ALWAYS is!

  19. nate says:

SUPERNATURAL- while i love the ep. what exactly is this season’s plot??? and main villian????

  20. knd says:

#6 my take on the whole episode was huh??? None of this is making sense btwn Dana’s name change/new friend/moving out scenario and Carrie pregnant not taking meds/binge drinking scenario. Are they making this whole thing up scene by scene?

    • Beth says:

The Dana thing is annoying and forced, who the hell is Angela and why the hell are you letting your unstable daughter leave withe her? Carrie binge drinking and the meds is not surprising…. Come on its Carrie she doesn’t really think before she leaps.

      • neha says:

Totally agree about the Dana thing. My favorite part was “Here’s $300! Now, I feel totally cool about letting my suicidal daughter with a psycho ex-boyfriend be on her own!”.

    • cozygal36 says:

What is so hard to understand about Dana? She wanted to change her name because she didn’t want to be Dana Brody anymore. She moved out so she can start fresh and not be surrounded by everything that is “Brody”.

The only weird part about that whole scenario is her mother letting her go but even that is understandable knowing that Dana tried killing herself and would probably do it again if she was forced to stay.

  21. #20 Anything is possible on Scandal!!! And anybody can get away with anything!

  22. John 1138 says:

    Much this.

  23. Chrissy says:

Supernatural was hysterical???? When he was hey you in the mail man I was literally laughing out loud I couldn’t breathe

  24. dude says:

    1. Katie McGrath has always and will always be a ringer for Dianna Agron.

  25. Babybop says:

No to the OUAT one, because I’m still convinced that Rumple is Regina’s real father…

    • DarkDefender says:

I don’t think that’s possible.. Regina took evil/dark magic lessons from Rumps when she was presumably a late teen/early 20-something.. And although he has grayish hair now, he didn’t in FTL (when he was creepy and gold).. Which means they are too close in age to be father/daughter.

      • Alice says:

Nope, Rumpelstiltskin is immortal and about 300 years old (Neal is as young as he is because of the time he spent in Neverland). He also instructed Regina’s mother in the dark arts and the two of them had and affair while she was engaged to Regina’s father.

  26. Maki says:

Can Miley Cyrus play Dana Lazaro in the next season of Homeland? Her tounge and twdrking would be better than that girls performance.

  27. sarah says:

    16) Yes Sara should have been sunburned. How does she know ho Diggle can and can not fight? I think Thea is Moira and Malcolm Merlyn’s daughter.

  28. Kathy says:

Moria is responsible for Oliver being on the Island for 5 years!

  29. TL says:

Can’t wait to hear Moira’s secrets!!!

  30. Melanie says:

Loved this week’s Supernatural. Dean was hysterical.

  31. Liz says:

Here’s my TV question.., Penny used hot glue guns to make penny blossoms and apparently worked on a farm, and rebuilt a tractor, but she can’t handle glue now? There’s no consistency in the approach to her… And they’re taking the dumb blonde trope to new levels

    • C says:

Maybe she was drunk, she always is lol. But sometimes you have to wonder about the consistency on that show. Sheldon supposedly has an eidetic memory, yet couldn’t remember an important part of a chart when developing the new element? Big loophole there. Still love the show though.

    • jane.c.l says:

I was thinking the same thing. I brought it up to my brother and we agreed that they keep making penny dumber. Saying shes drunk doesnt really make it better. Agreed, they’re taking the dumb blonde trope to new levels

    • Sarah says:

I also agree that they’re going too far with the dumb blonde trope. I think that their whole approach to Penny is flawed. We’re seven seasons into the show and she has barely accomplished anything new. It’s becoming annoying.

  32. David4 says:

Yeah, Homeland this season has been boring and just plain old stupid!

  33. RyanC says:

    6. We don’t know if the hospital did or didn’t check if Carrie was pregnant. That’s kind of the point of the twist. Keeping info from the viewers and all that.

    • jane.c.l says:

Still if they did know then why would they medicate her?
If they did test her they would tell her and she would no longer need to take a home pregnacy test.
I think the point of the question is if they(writers) are trying to be realistic then they(doctors) would have administed a pregnancy test. It makes no sense that they wouldnt and if they did then why did they medicate a pregnant woman?

      • neha says:

Technically, you can still medicate a pregnant woman. It would be have to be monitored, and obviously there are a lot of medications that pregnant women can’t take, but it’s not like pregnant women with bi-polar just go off their meds. I do agree with you – the hospital would HAVE to know that she’s pregnant (standard test), and somebody would have said “be careful for the baby” or something. Plus, they’d probably have to alert a guardian or a lawyer, if she was considered incapable of taking care of herself.

        • jane.c.l says:

Your right you can medicate a pregnant woman. I cant believe I completly over looked that fact.
Its just that it didnt seem like they were treating a pregnant woman thats bi-polar more like just a woman thats bi-polar.

I hadn’t thought about that. The hospital probably should have told someone, assuming carrie was considered incapable of taking care of herself.

  34. SJ says:

I wasn’t thrilled with Adam’s long beard but was getting used to it. He’s a handsome man (I can do without the tatted body which ruins it for me) but he looks good with some scruff. This boyish look with the slick backed hair doesnt look right. He looks like a little boy…Not a hunky man

  35. Britt says:

    4. OUAT- Since Rumple had a thing for Regina’s mom, I hope not. Plus this family tree is already too twisted and borderline incestural.

    17. X factor- They need to hire new people. I don’t understand why they think these “theme” weeks will help their ratings. Personally I think yesterday’s performances were wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the last few weeks combined.

  36. Mika02 says:

4 | Nope that’s the electricity of them getting to actually use there evilness which was lovely
5 | I agree Jack is her end game period. I’m happy that Nolan and Jack are now on the same page and everyone can be open with each other.
7 | I think he did have a big long speech but because he found his soulmate she didn’t need that to say yes which Iove. I probably would have cried if we got to know the mother more but I was still pretty happy inside.
    9 | I know SERIOUSLY, it annoying.
11 | I know he looked like he was there for a Business Deal or a Wedding Photo or Both
17 | I am so done with this show!
18 | Yeah well in this realm I knew he was going to betray her
20 | Josie needed a reality check she was running a really cookie cutter campaign

  37. jenferner8 says:

Ted didn’t need a big speech for the same reason Barney doesn’t need to “wait for it…” anymore. The way Barney has Robin, in that proposal scene Ted had the Mother. FYI-I loved the proposal scene, there’s plenty of chemistry there. I do wish the show would let her “meet” more of the gang, I heard that she will be soon but I wished show would have done so sooner.

  38. Justin says:

Aiden is worse than Tyler, Declan, and Ashley combined. He’s irritating, difficult to hear, doesn’t have chemistrey with anyone and doesn’t fit.

Ems has strong romantic chemistrey with Daniel, a little with Jack, and none whatsoever with Aiden (ugh even his name is ugly).

  39. jane.c.l says:

    6. How could doctors treat her and never find out shes pregnant. If you’re sexually active and a woman, they will administer a pregnancy test. Its a precaution to make sure they dont damage your baby or kill it, also to avoide a malpractice suit.
So tired of Dana but Jessica letting her under age daughter move out with a stranger? Wtf? Why would she do this? This show is falling apart.
    9.haha I didnt even notice.
    10. No
    11. The man is really good looking but damn thats not a good look. I dont understand why he thinks it makes him loook good, it doesnt.
    15. It was really strange but still hilarious.

  40. missvci says:

#5: I can buy Aiden as Emily’s true love storywise but the problem is Emily Vancamp does a horrible job at faking chemistry with Barry Sloane. I also don’t buy Jack as her true love and I bought the chemistry in season 1 but it has faded as time has gone on.

#20 any good news reporter should show true unbiased, but honestly i love Dan Bucatinsky so i never question giving him screen time.

    • neha says:

I think that’s because Emily VanCamp is portraying someone who is pretending to be in love with Aidan. I’m pretty sure Emily still loves Jack, and is just using Aiden’s feelings for her to get him to do what she wants.

  41. Tahonia says:

I cannot begin to say how wrong it is for Emily and Jack to be together. They can’t base a future on a childhood crush. It’s even more delusional than trying to get revenge on everyone. The end of Revenge will be Emily being taken away in a straight jacket, after discovering proof that David Clark was actually guilty. That being said, I love that show!

    • Radha says:

I cannot begin to day how silly it is for you to make that comment. Yeah most childhood crushes end up fading, but there are many people who have known each other from childhood, were smitten with puppy love and it just grew into real lasting love and they can tell you that they were honestly together their whole lives. That may seem boring to some people, but it happens all the time in real life–why not on a fictional soap? There are also others who knew each other as children, crushed on each other, were separated for most of their formative years and then the chemistry re-sparked when they meet up again as adults. Which is what happened to Emily and Jack. It’s not that hard to believe and I find that anyone who says otherwise just should admit that it’s more about them not liking the character of Jack rather than “They can’t be together because they crushed on each other as children!”

      • Elouise says:

The two things aren’t mutually exclusive. The childhood soulmate story was cute in season one, but now I find it ludicrous, especially with baby Carl in the picture. And I’ve never liked Jack much, because he’s dull and self-righteous. Portraying his love for Emily as pure and wholesome and Aiden’s as dark and obsessive is a truly lazy bit of storytelling for a show built on shades of gray. That said, yep, Aiden is hard to buy as her great love because a) she’s totally playing him (which she’s going to regret if he lives long enough to retaliate) and b) he isn’t. The only man Emily really loves is her father, and no one is ever going to live up to him. Not even St Jack.

  42. Britta Unfiltered says:

    6. I don’t think Carrie would be the first woman in history to binge drink while knowing they were pregnant. Let’s face it, it’s sad, but it probably happens every day. And I don’t really find it to be out of character for her to do something like that, particularly when she’s not taking her meds, because bipolar people will self-medicate like crazy with booze and recreational drugs when they’re not getting treatment. I don’t think the show is trying to create a perfect world where the heroes always make the right choices and do the right thing. It’s realistic that even the best people in the world can do some horrible things and make some horrible decisions that screw up their lives and the lives of others. Why would people expect Carrie to not be capable of making the bad decision of drinking while pregnant?
    12. I’m not sure I can picture Raylan doing any of those things. The guy is just so damn suave. He’s constantly playing it cool.

  43. scooby says:

Dr. L isn’t making frequent references to a handgun on The Mindy Project unless 2 is frequent. There were episodes in between. The first one was a joke about Casey moving faster trying to get married than it takes to get a handgun which caused people to accuse Mindy Kaling of being a Republican (she’s not) and she got yelled at on the internet which she wasn’t expecting. I bet the 2nd reference to a handgun was partly a callback. It also seemed tongue in cheek because doesn’t that sound like the kind of ridiculous thing Dr. L would do? Get a handgun for protection and then flake out about where she put it? I think she sleeps with a knife under her pillow.

  44. Sarah says:

I was flabbergasted when Mr. Schue suspended Marley for not wearing the bikini. How did the writers think that was in any way appropriate, even for Glee standards?

    • Heather says:

She was NOT suspended for NOT wearing a bikini. She was suspended for putting herself before the team, not doing the weekly assignment (which was to get outside of your own box and do something different), and using that time to make a point to a boy. She didn’t tell anyone on her team what she was doing, didn’t ask for a different outfit (and seemed fine with the one she was assigned when they were rehearsing/talking about it). People are up in arms at the way Schue yelled, but that was more of a time saving device than anything, I think. There are only so many minutes in an episode so showing him taking her aside privately, explaining everything in detail on why she was suspended and letting the audience see that was not possible. He NEVER said anything about her not wearing a bikini (that was Sam), but said she went against the assignment, her team, and put herself first to prove a point to a boy. Maybe suspension for a week was harsh, but again, they are setting up plot points in a limited amount of time, so something has to give.

  45. Maureen says:

Am I the only one that noticed some sexual tension between Peter Pan and Emma? Or at least some interest in Emma.

    • Radha says:

You’re not the only one. I noticed it when she first met him and held the sword to his throat by the tree. But then again, I think the young actor playing Peter is marvelous in the villainous role and kind of has an erotic tension in most of his scenes with everyone…not necessarily in a sexual way, but you get what I mean. But with Emma, I do completely agree with you–there’s something there. It makes some people uncomfortable because he’s meant to be younger than her, but I think everyone is forgetting that on this show, Peter LOOKS like a boy, but is something far older and creepier. If he knew Rumplestiltskin back when HE was a boy, and time makes everyone age slowly in Fairy Tale Land, then that means Peter is probably thousands of years old. It’s also in the way he looks right at Mr. Gold and calls him “My boy.” and “Laddie.”

  46. DarkDefender says:

My TV Q of the week: What did Alexis and Beckett say in the precinct?

  47. Mus says:

If Olivia was 12 when her mother died after Fitz shot down the plane, how old was Fitz then? He must be somewhere in his 20s. Thats a big generation gap.

    • Anon says:

I think Olivia is about 35 and Fitz is 51. So there is a 16 year age difference. Olivia likes older men based on her past dating history.

This weeks episode of Supernatural was cute. While they didn’t really do anything new with the “human communicates with animals” idea the episode worked. Jensen deserves a lot of the credit for his masterful physical comedy. His timing is genius.

Beauty and the beast is just stupid this season. Loved it last year, now it is all about a new beast every week, and yeah, how exactly is Cat going toe to toe with a beast? And btw, how did Cat have her 10 year class reunion this season, didn’t she have 30th birthday party last season? Please correct me if I’m wrong about that.

How is Christine, the Bones-Booth spawn, seemingly the same age and size as Michael Vincent, the Angela-Hodgins spawn, even though she’s at least a year younger?
