Fatrick Pilot Fox Jim Rash Nat FaxonFox beefed up its pilot offerings Wednesday when it ordered Fatrick, a half-hour comedy whose pedigree includes CommunityThe Descendants and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. The potential series follows Patrick, a 30-something moving man and former fat kid, as he’s forced to face the damage caused during his overweight childhood.

According to the network, the project will take place in both the past and the present. Apartment 23‘s Nahnatchka Kahn and Corey Nickerson will pen the script; Nat Faxon (Ben and Kate) and Jim Rash (Community) — who, with Alexander Payne, won an Oscar for their adapted screenplay of the 2012 film The Descendants — will direct.

20th Century Fox TV will produce.

  • I’m so wary of anything sit-commy dealing with weight as the central topic but I like those two so much I have to hope that they can put together 30 minutes of television that isn’t wall-to-wall “ha ha, fat people are funny because they’re fat, get it?” type of jokes.
