The Mentalist Exclusive: Rockmond Dunbar Promoted to Series Regular

39th NAACP Image Awards - ArrivalsRockmond Dunbar‘s first Mentalist episode hasn’t even aired yet, but the Sons of Anarchy actor has already earned a permanent place on the show’s call sheet.

Dunbar, who was initially hired for a three-episode arc, has been promoted to a full-fledged series regular on the CBS procedural, TVLine has learned exclusively.

As we previously reported, he will play Dennis Abbott, a no-nonsense FBI Supervisory Agent who isn’t impressed by Patrick Jane’s skills or charm. His first episode is slated to air on Nov. 10.

Abbott is one of two new characters being added for Season 6, in preparation for these two midseason exits. The other is FBI agent Kim Fischer (Monday Mornings‘ Emily Swallow), a thirtysomething ex-homicide detective from Dallas who is not afraid to stand up for herself.

  • Not Necessarily Katelin. He’s not a regular on SoA and could still make appearances here and there despite being a regular on The Mentalist. Plus, SoA is probably already done with their season and they wont go back to start filming next years Final season until the summer, If i’m not mistaken.

  • I guess this means Patrick will be consulting for the FBI after Red John is taken care of. Will Lisbon and Cho become FBI agents? Is the CBI going to be dismantled? Bruno Heller said there is an “institutional crisis” going on at the CBI.

  • don’t think its anyone on list. vanpelt and rigsby leaving and vanpelt since she shot boyfriend who was deciple of rj she just started acting alot different wouldn’t surprise me if rigsby in on it also
