Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• Fox has given a series order to Mulaney, a multi-camera comedy from Saturday Night Live scribe John Mulaney and his SNL bossman Lorne Michaels. Based loosely on Mulaney’s life, the project — on which NBC passed during pilot season — follows an aspiring comedian (Mulaney) living under the influence of his boss (played by Martin Short, another SNL alum), roommates and neighbors.

• As previously (and excitedly) reported, Bob Newhart is set to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Professor Proton on The Big Bang Theory this season — and now we know when. Newhart will drop by the CBS juggernaut on Thursday, Nov. 7. Bill Nye (Science Guy/recent Dancing With the Stars castoff) also appears in the half hour.

  • Colin Hanks is a really underrated actor. Loved him in The Good Guys.

    • I was a big Good Guys fan, too, so I’m in. He’s very enjoyable to watch in a show.

    • He’s OK in an ensemble, but IMO he’s not a leading man/star. He just doesn’t own any scene he’s in.

      • It might be the roles. Harrison Ford was dismissed as an actor at an audition because he acted like a waiter. (the role was being a waiter)

    • Colin Hanks was also known for playing Travis Marshall in the sixth season of DEXTER as well as his guest starring stint on NCIS.

  • I’m not surprised that Mulaney is given a second chance this time on a different network (Fox). Guess I was totally bummed out when John Mulaney wasn’t going to be part of the new feature players on SNL this season. :-(

  • Bummed that John Mulaney isn’t going to be the new Weekend Update Anchor. Even more bummed that this is a multi camera sitcom on Fox. They don’t even have a successful comedy to launch this after. Hope it does well for him though. he’s a great talent!

  • Mulaney is awesome. This will be great if it gets Mindy Project off the air any sooner.

  • What is Monique’s talk show replacing? What is on the ABC daytime chopping block?!

Comment by Amanda – October 2, 2013 06:08 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Weird that ABC would even be considering replacing anything on its daytime roster considering recent gains for General Hospital and The Chew and The View are doing well… what’s left? Katie? I thought that was doing respectable numbers so there doesn’t seem much need to replace that… Is Rachel Ray going off? Are they reclaiming the old Oprah hour? Seems like those are the only two options left to consider…

      • Rachel Ray doesn’t air on ABC in my area. I’m thinking it is Katie, Dr. Oz or GH
