The pickup comes three weeks after the show’s Season 4 premiere, and less than one week after Bobby Cannavale scored an Emmy upset when he took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series trophy for his one-season Empire role as deranged loose cannon Gyp Rosetti.

TVLine’s Cable Renewal Scorecard has been updated.

Thank you HBO! Everything about this series is first-rate. So glad Bobby Cannavale won an Emmy for his amazing turn as Gyp Rossetti…

Awesome!! Love Boardwalk, but just wish HBO could turn out their shows faster than once a year.

How about giving us more of “The Newsroom”, by far the best show on TV. Jeff Daniels certainly deserved his Best Actor Emmy, but the entire show, especially Aaron Sorkin, deserved far more recognition than they got. I could happily watch it every week. I have, in fact, seen every episode at least three times. It’s the only reason I have HBO.

It would be great if HBO would pick up BBC America’s “Copper”

    • John H Flammer says:

Copper is too good to let go it should be picked up by another cable station HBO history channel.Would love to see how Corky takes care of Tammy.
By the way was that Stephen Baldwin who played a Tammy boss,he was excellent as well as the actor who played Donavon who I believe is on Sons of Anachy.

Boardwalk Empire is an amazing show….hopefully the story becomes more related to actual characters like (Al Capon,….etc)

Also, this tv show can have its own TV Movie, or feature Movie …

Has Hell on Wheels been renewed for season 4?

  7. Britta Unfiltered says:

Sweet! I’ve missed Gyp’s force-of-nature presence this season though. I still feel so elated over Cannavale’s win. It was so, so deserved.
    .
What the heck is going on with Margaret this season? How on earth have we been through three episodes without checking in on her? Is she even still a part of the show?

  8. R.O.B. says:

This show was borderline boring for the longest time. I like Steve Buscemi, but he severely lacks charisma. It is very difficult to buy him as a ladies man and there is no chemistry with any of his women. Then they bring in the plotline with buying off politicians last season and it was tough to keep my eyes open. [SPOILERS] That said, when Bobby Canavale came on board last season, you could not take your eyes off him – he chewed up every scene he was in. Dude was a monster. “Was” being the operative word, as both my wife and I were pleading “please don’t kill Gyp please don’t kill Gyp” to the Tv to no avail. What a well-deserved award. Boardwalk needs to take the emphasis off Nucky and focus on Van Alden (Michael Shannon) and Chalky White (Michael J. Williams), two intense, highly watchable characters.
