Arrow star Stephen Amell. Shirtless. Annnnnd anything we type beyond that will not be read. But I will give it the ol’ college try, regardless.

As part of a multi-pronged campaign to drum up buzz for Arrow Season 2 (premiering Wednesday, Oct. 9), The CW is unveiling a quartet of posters that showcase its male stars’ inarguable assets – I mean, I’m already regretting the bagel I had this morning — and TVLine has your first look at the one featuring no less than the show’s pectacular lead.

Elsewhere in the cyberverse, you’ll find posters that show David Ramsey (who plays Diggle), Colton Haynes (Roy) and Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson) also “Coming Back Strong,” as the tagline reads.

But is Oliver coming back strong? As the superhero drama opens its sophomore run, the beefy billionaire is aiming to redefine his alter ego in the wake of the quake. “Last season, he didn’t care much what anyone thought of him, as Oliver Queen or as the Arrow, and this season he’s stepping into new challenges in both worlds,” showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said as part of TVLine’s Fall Preview Q&A.  “As Oliver Queen, he’s taking a bigger role at his family’s company… and as the vigilante he decides that it’s not enough to just be crossing names off a list. He needs to be a hero, and part of that means adopting the moniker of Arrow.”

Guest stars/recurring players for Arrow Season 2 include Summer Glau (Firefly) as businesswoman Isabel Rochev, Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing) as Sin, Grant Gustin (Glee) as Barry Allen/The Flash, Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black) as Laurel’s co-worker Adam Donner, Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Spartacus) as Amanda Waller and Navid Negahban (Homeland) as The League of Assassins’ Al-Owal.

  • Wow. The scars are made worse than before.
The number of new series regular has obviously killed the budget of the show!

    • What the heck are you talking about? He is BARELY shirtless on the show and this is only the second poster that he has been shirtless in. All of the other ones he was in full Arrow action so you’re wrong.

      • He’s probably a straight guy, to them any shirtlessness = omg why is he *always* shirtless. Wouldn’t have a problem with gratuitous female skin though.

    • I’m assuming you’re a straight male, because I don’t see women or gay men complaining.

      • Ditto, not complaining here!

  • Awesome! I think one of my favorite things about this version of a ‘superhero’ is that he has scars (even if these have all been obviously Photoshopped on to match his normal ones on the show). Because more often than not, even when the heroes are supposed to be human, they’re never left with scars after an injury. I’m especially curious about the bite mark.

  • Awesome poster! This is the 2nd one I’ve seen for S2 and I’ve loved each one! I can’t wait for Arrow to return and see how Oliver’s journey changes from vigilante to hero. Also excited to see Oliver and Felicity’s relationship develop and see lots more of the team in the field. Very curious to see where Quentin Lance fits into their dynamic now that he’s learned some of their secrets.

  • Garbage posters…. CW epic fail. Also the actor playing Oliver is like watching paint dry seems like he was hired for his abs. Whatever only watching this show for diggle.

  • You guys really need to put up David Ramsey’s poster-that Diggle is all kinds of hot.

  • Okay, that’s great. Now let’s see Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland and Emily Bett Rickards shirtless. Fair’s fair.

  • if they made posters similar to this with the women of the cast all we would hear is how sexist they are, what an amazing double standard.

Comment by Alan – September 16, 2013 01:58 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Lol @ you pretending like women aren’t objectified 99.9% of the time in everything in life. The second men are, you’re all “omg so sexist!”. If you have a problem simply go and watch any other movie or tv show or step into the world in general and you’ll find your seductive women in little to no clothing, and leave us to oogle the pretty. Kthnx.

Comment by Olivia – September 17, 2013 03:29 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • so if i objectify you its wrong and if you objectify me then its ok? this is exactly the double standard im talking about.

  • someone please, tell Arrow producers to take off that horrible tattoos and scars from Amell’s body

Comment by Fernanda – September 16, 2013 02:12 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Stephen’s physique has become so boring, its just so blocky and less defined, not to mention overexposed

I prefer Colton haynes’ more and David’s a bit more too. One is leaner and muscular the latter more muscular and very defined.

Comment by Androis – September 16, 2013 05:43 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Why couldn’t they have done this “all the guys go shirtless” ad campaign when Colin Donnell was still on the show???

Comment by Jesse – September 17, 2013 04:33 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Arrow scripts are sounding like the Bold & Beautiful scripts with action added, are the scriptwriters the same for both?
