Simon Merrells The Tomorrow PeopleYet another Spartacus vet is headed to The CW’s Wednesday lineup.

Simon Merrells, who played the evil Marcus Crassus in Starz’ Spartacus: War of the Damned, is joining The Tomorrow People in a recurring role, TVLine has learned exclusively.

According to exec producer Phil Klemmer, Merrells will play “somebody who has a lot of power over” Mark Pellegrino’s villain Jedikiah, adding, “We’re going to get to see him, hopefully, through the back half [of the season].”

The casting follows last week’s news that Merrells’ Spartacus co-star, Cynthia Addai Robinson, is joining Tomorrow People‘s Wednesday lead-in Arrow as DC Comics baddie Amanda Waller. And Arrow already counts Spartacus‘ Manu Bennett as a regular.

The Tomorrow People premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9/8c.

    • Theres a rumor floating around that Liam has landed a role in Arrow. He tweeted something that has people wondering.

      • No he didn’t. I follow him on twitter and he hasn’t hinted at anything. Plus, he has a growing film career. His future is on the big screen.

        • I saw the tweet so yes he did. And just because an actor does a film doesn’t mean they’ll never do television.

          • what did the tweet say?

could he be the new Barry Allen/Flash

          • K ~ Tweet said “What speed can reach the flash? Just wondering….for the future.” He deleted it fairly quickly which fueled the rumor. We’ll just have to wait and see if it means anything :-)

  • No surprise that the actors from this fantastic show are getting snapped up now that it’s over.

Looking forward to what many of them, but Dan Feuerriegel and Pana Hema Taylor espeically, have coming up.

And as long as we’re tracking connections between SPARTACUS and the CW, of course, Eka Darville, who played Pietros in SPARTACUS: BLOOD & SAND (the first series), popped up as Diego, ally of Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), in the back-door pilot for THE ORIGINALS that aired as an episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. I think he’s going to recur in the series proper when it stars.

  • Also, as for who the CW should recruit NEXT, at some point THE TOMORROW PEOPLE is going to need to have an evil Tomorrow Person, I imagine, and who better then SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED brat extraordinaire Christian Antidormi (who played Tiberius)

    • I concur! For someone so young Christian played his character with a lot more maturity than just a superficial brat. He was fantastic and needs to be the lead on a tv show.

  • People, aren’t you forgetting a very important Spartacus star? The flawless Lucy Lawless, of course. However, I will always remember her as Xena. We need more Xena alums on TV. I wonder what Renee O’Connor is up to these days?

    • Lucy is on Parks and Rec as recurring

  • “evil Marcus Crassus”

Far from evil … maybe brutal, but certainly not evil.

    • True. That was the best part about that last season – Crassus and Spartacus really were equals in a lot of ways. He may have been the “villain”, but Crassus was really an inherently good guy at his core.

  • I have to say I would love to see Viva Bianca. Love love love her. I wish Andy Whitfield was still around. He was and always will be my favorite Spartacus cast. And honestly has there ever been a more gorgeous man runnin around in basically panties?

  • Oh Simon, I adore thee! So thrilled to hear this news. Now can someone get DUSTIN CLARE a LEAD in a great show please?

Comment by Naazneen – September 9, 2013 10:46 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • There was only one star of Spartacus and that was Dustin Clare sorry but he out looked out acted everybody else. He is also very charismatic which is rare on screen. How he is not a big star I do not know . From a very discerning viewer. Ps I love Colin Farrell but sorry he never looked as good as DS as Gannicus xxxx
