Also boarding the show’s sophomore run is Anna Hopkins as Jessica “Berlin” Rai, a soldier and documentarian who makes propaganda films that shine a positive light on E-Rep’s occupation of Defiance. Watch for this tough, fearless lass to form the center of a passionate love triangle.

Atherton’s more recent TV credits include guest gigs on Workaholics, Castle and The Glades, while Hopkins appeared in a February episode of Nikita.

When Defiance opens Season 2 in June 2014, E-Rep has assumed control of the titular town with far-reaching consequences — including a new mayor — while Nolan is traversing the badlands to find Irisa, Amanda assumes an unexpected role as she searches for Kenya and the Tarr family desperately tries to keep control of their criminal empire.

  • Not quite sure who’s left in Defiance to have a love triangle with… maybe Amanda and the hunky new mayor? Rafe and his son (gag)? A Sensoth and a Liberata?

      • Except, as mentioned, Nolan is MIA in the Badlands at the beginning of the season. Maybe something picks up again once he inevitably returns. Of course, with the new mayor, that would be more of a quadrangle…

        • i highly doubt nolan will be spending anymore than the first episode of the season away from defiance, he kind of needs to be there for the show to work since he is the main character.

    • Isn’t the actor who plays Rafe’s living son filming ARCTIC AIR right now?

      • The Canadian tv industry is structured so that actors can film more than one series. Its very very flexible and designed so that Canadian actors can get as much work as possible. And they have really short filming ‘seasons’ so an actor can fit in 2, if not 3, series in a year.

  • Loving the Defiance scoop but can’t wait until next year gorramit! Was so good to have some good old fashioned sci fi back on TV. I’m hoping this means that none of the deaths in the finale stick, which i’d be happy for given the amount of characters they killed leading up to it!

    • Kenya, at least, I’d like to see back.

      • I think it would be interesting to see the effects of Stahma killing her on the show – especially on the Nolan/Amanda relationship – but selfishly I would love her to be alive just because Mia Kirshner was so good in the role. Long live Kenya!
