  • Looking forward to Surviving Evil. I love Charisma, and I’m still bitter that Joss Whedon fired her from Angel.

    • What was the story to that?

      • The rumor is that he got upset at her “unplanned pregnancy,” which is why he wrote her off the show like he did in season 4. I don’t know how much truth there is the rumor, but he has publicly stated that he regrets how he treated the situation.

        • I had thought it was because they wanted Spike there and couldn’t afford both actors, so they let Charisma go(big mistake, as I felt Spike’s storyline had wrapped properly and heroically in Buffy and cheapens the finale somewhat).

        • I can’t even watch “Angel” because of the way they treated Charisma and her character. First, they destroyed a great character by trying to turn Cordelia Chase into sugar and sunshine. She was one of my favorite “Buffy” characters, but was reduced to nothing by the end of the first season of “Angel”. Then they really started messing with Charisma, which wasn’t cool at all. Especially from someone who claims to be so pro-women, to get pissed about a grown woman getting pregnant was really childish. I think they might have even forced her to dye her hair blonde. I don’t remember exactly, but I think I remember Charisma saying that she didn’t like the hair back then. I could be wrong about that, but it makes sense with the network that was always weird about having female cast members look too similar, because they were worried that we would get confused about who was who.

          • seriously…. You people with your rumors and your speculation.

Joss gave her a great role on 2 shows.

          • A lot of what I feel isn’t about rumors. They trashed the character, which I did not appreciate. The other issues were what they were. I’m not a fan of Joss the man because I think he has a huge ego. Not based on rumors. Based on words that come out of his own mouth and the work he’s put out. I’m not a crazy fan gone awry. I’m someone who’s been familiar with these stories for 15 years.

          • He reduced her to nothing? You must have forgotten how they made Cordelia half demon right?

Comment by Pumpkinbabies – August 28, 2013 02:17 PM PDT
          • I meant nothing of quality. They just kept finding creative new ways of destroying a once great character. The demon thing was… actually, I blocked that memory out completely. Now it’s flooding back and I’m cringing. :)

        • If there was genuine “regret” he would have offered her a role on any of his zillion other projects since. Yet he has not. Hmmm.

          • He’s had 3 projects if you count Shield.
Maybe she wanted to be a mom for the first year of her babies life. Maybe she was sick of working long hours playing the same character for like ten years and needed a break. Maybe Joss and the writers had no more stories to tell with her character… you people always have to come up with all these negative rumors when it could just be a normal reason.

the fact you know who she is, is because of her acting but more important. Joss gave her a great role when her only credit was Baywatch.

          • Joss didn’t exactly hire Sarah Michelle gellar in his work either.

      • charisma was treated very unfairly during and after her pregnancy. whedon was upset that she had gotten pregnant without telling him first and basically punished her with an awful storyline (the whole jasmine possession thing) and forced her to do things she was very uncomfortable with (including putting her in revealing clothing while 6-7 months pregnant, sex scenes with someone who had basically been her child a season before) then, after working throughout her entire pregnancy and even filming right after giving birth, she was written off without any warning and did not find out until the press started calling her about her name not being on the press release for season five. even after all this, she agreed to return for one episode in season five with one condition – she did not want to be killed off. then after making the deal, she was told that the writers had decided to kill her off anyway.

also – this is not speculation, this is not a rumor. this is charisma’s story. she has spoken about it in multiple interviews and at various conventions (they’re all on youtube go see for yourself!)

  • MasterChef (hour 2 has Paula Deen pre-brouhaha!) and DVR’ing Surviving Evil. Also, I didn’t know that’s why Cordelia was killed off – bad, Joss, bad! Make it up to her by giving her a guest role on Agents of SHIELD! (More Charisma is always welcome!)
