Game of Thrones Season 4 Preview Based on the hints Game of ThronesKit Harington is dropping about the HBO series’ harrowing fourth season — now in production — Jon Snow should’ve just stayed in the cave and contented himself with showing Ygritte exactly how much he does know.

Alas, there are invasions to stave off and a wall to defend, and Harington tells TVLine that “the pressure’s on” for Ned Stark’s bastard — and himself — to step up.

“It’s a big season for Jon Snow,” the actor says. “Without telling you what happens, it’s a heavy action season… God, this is probably my biggest season to date. So I’ve got to live up to it and do right by Jon and do right by the books’ fans.”

Those who have read author George R. R. Martin’s series of novels know that [Slight spoiler alert: Hop one of Daenerys' dragons and fly away if you don't want to have any inkling about what may come] Jon faces some very personal loss after returning to fight alongside what remains of the Night’s Watch — and that’s after the “heartbreak [and] grief” he experiences when news of last season’s events finally reach him.

“He’s learning of his brothers’ deaths and his stepmother’s death — although they didn’t get on — and he’s learning of the Lord Commander’s death,” Harington notes. “On top of that, he’s trying to get over the heartbreak of leaving Ygritte, and he’s having to deal with the backlash from him leaving the Night’s Watch.”

Game of Thrones Season 4 SpoilersSpeaking of the arrow-slinging redhead, he adds that she’s always on Jon’s mind (“very much so”), but that doesn’t mean you’ll see him spill all in a heart-to-heart with Sam or sob frozen tears while alone on guard duty.

“Jon doesn’t really talk about his emotions. [He's] an interesting one to play — it’s all internal,” the actor says. But he will concede that his alter ego is “nervous” about the mess of trouble headed south.

All told: “It’s not an easy place for him at the start of the season.” (With reporting by Vlada Gelman)

  • I remember last year we (book readers) were very excited for the third season. We all knew about the Red Wedding, so of course, it was a big, huge event.

However, I have always been WAY more excited for the fourth season!

The back-half of ASOS is filled to the top with exciting, awesome, heartbreaking, jaw-dropping moments, and I can’t wait to see how it’s portrayed in the show.

Too bad it’s so far away!

  • Here’s hoping Jon can cope with the Red Wedding and Commander Mormont’s death. It’s been a terrific year for him and the best part is still ahead

  • “Hey Jon your back!!! Blah Blah Blah….oh btw, we got a message from a raven, everyone you know is dead…peace out!” lol. Yikes!

And Catelyn whined and b*tched about having lost a bunch of her kids (but not all)…imagine how Jon will feel; his dad was beheaded, his step-mom and Robb are dead (along with a new wife of Robbs he never met and he might be informed she was pregnant so he was going to be an uncle), his brothers are reported killed by his “brother” Theon (betrayal), the north has fallen, the war is in shambles, Sansa is held hostage by the King and Queen (Cersie) and the other (Arya) i believe he would be told is also held hostage by the King/Queen. Lol oh and the first and biggest love of his life just shot him full of arrows to kill him, AND (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER) he ends her life…………….(SPOILER DONE) I mean…jeepers..poor Jon. When you add that all up to him being in The Nights Watch so he cant do anything about it, and also from the north a army of wild-lings and a separate army of walking dead are coming his way…lol how does he not just kill himself?

  • Jon and his story are my absolute favorite part of the books. Tyrion and Jaime are a close second. I’m more excited about this upcoming season than the most recent. I really need the next book… I have to know what happens to Jon!!

  • Having finished the last book 4 days after its release, this next book feels like a long time coming. What happens to my fave person?
Can I just say that Kit is terrific, a dead-on doppelgänger of what I thought Jon would be but, somehow, he’s even prettier. Well done, casting folks. Eye candy for the ladies along with an awesome story, riveting world, fantastic costuming and details and great acting.
Love this snow, I mean show. ;)

  • I get it, not the show to be a shipper, but can I get a Jon and Ygritte scene, even if is her shooting arrows on him again?!!

  • So happy he’s left Ygitte, i hated that storyline, she’s just the absolute worst character, pressuring him into sex and being such a butch pig. Joffrey is evil too but at least he’s entertaining to watch, and did us all a huge favour by killing the annoying Ros. Season 4 will be brilliant for those of us who don’t like Ygritte if they stick to the book.
