The Carrie Diaries First Look: Check Out Lindsey Gort (Kim Cattrall's Doppelganger) as Samantha

Kim Cattrall Samantha JonesA very familiar face is coming to The Carrie Diaries — in more ways than one — and TVLine has got your first look.

As we reported on Saturday, the CW’s prequel series to Sex and the City has cast newcomer Lindsey Gort for Season 2 in the iconic role of Samantha Jones — and she’s a dead ringer for Kim Cattrall (pictured, right), who originated the role in HBO’s groundbreaking series.

“In another nerve-wracking search to create the amazing characters we all came to know and love on Sex and the City, we went out in search this year for a young Samantha Jones,” noted executive producer Amy B. Harris, in a statement. “Lindsey Gort walked into the room and owned the part. Funny and sexy with a whiff of vulnerability and an amazing dash of outrageousness, Lindsey is our exciting choice to play the young Samantha Jones.”

  • I don’t understand why you’re comparing her to Kim Cattrall and then expect people to realize that The Carrie Diaries isn’t a prequel to the SATC TV show. It does’t make sense.

    • well no, its not really a prequel but to pretend that people aren’t going to compare the casting choices is not practical. Anna Sophia Robb ‘looks’ like what people assume Carrie Bradshaw looks like and so it makes sense that the producers would cast someone who ‘looks’ like what people imagine when they think of Samantha.

  • “Dead ringer?” I’m not seeing that at all. Honestly, AnnaSophia Robb looks more like Kim Catrall than she does like the Bradshaw chick.

  • She really resembles Original Sam. Pretty strange! Can’t wait to see this play out. This girl has to be nasty to pull it of!

  • Lindsey looks so so so much like Kim Cattrall it’s crazy! I hope they didn’t just go with looks and she can really channel the blunt hilarity and fun that Samantha brought to the show

  • What a looker! I’m not familiar with the original SATC, so she’ll definetly be a treat for me! I just hope we don’t start seeing a parade of younger versions of the characters from the original series. One or two perhaps, but not the entire group…

  • I thought that was Abigail Breslin, except for the eye color.
