Psych Scoop on Harry Potter-Themed Episode Set in 'London' — Plus: Is Season 8 the End?

Get More: Comic-Con, Video

Psych Season 8 SpoilersIf Psych‘s upcoming eighth season turns out to be its last, USA Network’s long-running laugh-riot is going out with a bang.

Series creator Steve Franks, who dropped by TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite with series stars James Roday and Dulé Hill, confirmed to me that the show is heading to London for an episode inspired by Harry Potter — but there’s a twist (actually two twists): The show isn’t literally going to London. And Psych‘s take on Potter will feature a, ahem, “Guy Richie gangster” element, per Franks.

Press PLAY below for more on that episode, as well scoop on the “creative” way producers are working around Maggie Lawson’s new scheduling conflict and the latest on the possibly-imminent series finale. Oh, and you’ll also get proof Dulé is the biggest spoiler whore in all the land — yep, even bigger than yours truly.

  • Loved the interview but couldnt believe the interviewer had never heard of Vinnie Jones! isnt he supposed to be a media expert? Bit of a lightweight in the film and tv department im assuming. Vinnie has a nice re occurring role in the american Sherlock at the moment, as a villain of course!

    • Oooh, them’s fightin’ words, Ausiello! Seriously though, you may not recognize the name, but everybody knows who Vinnie Jones is. He’s like one of the most recognizable character actors in the world.

      • That was the most revealing thing from the video, Ausiello doesn’t know Vinnie Jones!?!?!?!

Comment by Quinn Mallory – July 18, 2013 10:46 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • Vinnie Jones is a secondary player in a list of fairly obscure films. No big deal.

    • Yea, right! It also seemed like Ausiello didn’t even know who Guy was! Ha!

  • Didnt they confirm that season 8 was the last? I didnt think it was still up in the air…

Comment by Pat D. – July 18, 2013 06:44 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • It hasn’t been confirmed yet. They are only being given 10 episodes for this season instead of the usual 16 though. It would seem, sadly, that the writing is on the wall.

      • My prediction is that season 8 will be extended by a few episodes and then made the final season.

Comment by Quinn Mallory – July 18, 2013 10:47 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • It already was. The initial episode order was 8.

  • Hold up, a Harry Snatch/Guy mash-up!? How dare they do that to Ritchie! Ok, I’ll still watch, it’s going to be hilarious. What I got from this great interview was, PSYCH is never ending!

  • How do you cover entertainment and TV and not know who Vinnie Jones is? He was just on Elementary this season. And I don’t even watch that show. C’mon. Tighten up.

  • Glad to hear there is a season 8. I thought with Maggie Lawson getting another show that Psych was no more. Thanks for this interview. It was interesting to see the difference in real personalities for Dule and James. Dule is the energizer bunny, whereas James seemed very lay back. Dule Hill is also quite the comedian. OTOH…those peach colored pants…

  • Dule was awesome, but James said NOTHING and seems to be totally out of it??? That seemed to be really weird

Comment by TVLine_FanGirl – July 19, 2013 03:41 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I hope he’s ok

  • Dule was so hilarious here! Picking the lint off his pants, talking constantly while everyone is talking, lulz.

The insinuation that Aus doesn’t even watch the show is something I TOTALLY believe.
