Amy Brenneman Is Justin Theroux's Wife in Damon Lindelof's HBO Pilot The Leftovers

Amy BrennemanPrivate Practice alum Amy Brenneman has joined the cast of The Leftovers, the HBO drama pilot from Lost boss Damon Lindelof and author Tom Perrotta.

Based on the 2011 novel of the same name, the prospective series examines life on Earth after a Rapture-like event takes place, though not as it’s supposed to.

Brenneman will play Laurie Garvey, a woman who leaves behind her police chief husband (Six Feet Under‘s Justin Theroux), kids and life to join a mysterious cult, our sister site Deadline reports.

Also joining the cast is Emily Meade (aka Fringe‘s Ella), as a high school mean girl unfazed by the apocalyptic happenings.

Previously announced cast members include Liv Tyler (as a target of the cult) and Desperate Housewives vets Max and Charlie Carver.

  • Interesting. The book was really good, but none of the people mention were even close to who I thought of as I read. Bu I do think it could be a good show.

  • ugh. I really wanted to watch this show but I am not a fan of hers. At least not on Private Practice. Her character was annoying so hopefully she is better in this.

    • That’s really not her fault though. I feel as though Violet grew increasingly annoying on PP which is something the writers are to be held accountable for.
