Comment by dee123 – April 27, 2013 04:23 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • The people who miss Stabler aren’t loons — Chris Meloni was an integral part of the show for 12 seasons, and his absence has left a hole in the squadroom. I like the two new detectives, but it’s not the same without Elliot. And it’s not the same with reduced roles for Dann Florek, Tamara Tunie, and Richard Belzer (where the hell is Munch?). I miss Joel de la Fuente and BD Wong, as well as Stephanie March and Diane Neal (though I do like ADA Garza — he’s grown on me).

Comment by Paul Cox – April 26, 2013 12:14 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • I’m all for saving Community. However, I’d like to see Comedy Central save it, and bring back Harmon. Just imagine what it could become on a network like Comedy Central. It could be paired with Workaholics and I would watch an entire hour of programming on CC, which only happens now during the Daily Show and Colbert.

Comment by Sg. Grant – April 26, 2013 02:56 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • I don’t know what kind of salaries the Community cast earn at present, but it’s probably more than Comedy Central could afford. I think they pay Anthony Jeselnik in porn dvds.

    • I agree. I love this show. It sounds stupid but it does make me laugh and cry. I wish I had a family as supportive as they are towards each other. I only wish that we didn’t have to have a ‘season final’e every year. I guess when you’re worried about getting canceled every season it’s better than leaving your fans hanging though.

Comment by May – April 26, 2013 12:57 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Seriously. And for a full 22 episodes! I’m really freaking excited.

Comment by Spencer – April 26, 2013 01:54 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I agree. Five seasons is the point where, to me, any series feels like its been given its day. From here, every additional season is a bonus, and I’ll be happy for Jason Katims to wrap it up on his own terms whenever he sees fit. Having said that… I think this renewal takes it to 90 episodes, so it needs at least another 10!

        • Don’t worry about the jerks my man, some people just look for reasons to treat you like your stupid because they’re miserable human beings and for some weird reason being an A$$hole makes them feel better. You may inquire about any show you like where ever you like. This is AMERICA after all.

As for Monday mornings, everything I’ve heard points to the ratings being quite horrible and TNT not renewing it.

Comment by skytzo425 – April 26, 2013 12:08 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • Even Dallas didn’t perform that great on Mondays against first run Network fare… I think the only TNT show other than sports that did well was “The Closer”… TNT even buried poor ol Leverage on Sundays at 9pm.. How in the world did they expect that to get a decent audience???? I think the fanbase of MM’s were David E Kelly fans who were otherwise watching the major network shows at 10pm if at all.. As a DEK fan, I thought it was a terrific show that got little support from TNT…

Comment by TV Gord – April 26, 2013 02:04 PM PDT
          • There was nothing rude about MrMank’s comment. He simply pointed out that this particular article is about NBC shows. He also offered what he has heard about the show in question. If anything, you are the one who is being a rude jerk. Take a seat.

          • It didn’t seem like he was asking TVLine, just asking other people in general. There’s probably not a lot of forums for or articles about it if it’s that poorly rated, so he likely doesn’t have another place to ask.

      • Yeah seriously mistakes in the first email they send out to all of us/first posting of this about Parks & Rec – quite major mistakes at that – and just a completely unfinished article, and then after fixing it, to still have this date mistake is just ridiculous. Seriously, it shouldn’t be that hard to get a proofreader or something to take 1 minute to read it through slowly before you post it to the site.

Comment by Jay – April 26, 2013 11:59 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • SVU may be decent in the ratings, but high they are not.

Comment by Jaime – April 26, 2013 12:09 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • SVU’s ratings are “higher” than Community and Parks & Rec which is what was what Jay said, Not that they’re “high” but that they renew the shows with “higher” ratings. It’s much more profitable yo renew a show like SVU which has 3 times the amount of total episodes than Parks & rec even though the ratings are close, because they’ll get paid that much more for syndication.

Comment by skytzo425 – April 26, 2013 12:22 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • Unfortunately nbc probably loses more $ from SVU at the price to make it and their guest stars of the week than they do from the revenue it brings in. Not smart, nbc; not that I expected much from them.

Comment by Rebecca – April 26, 2013 12:35 PM PDT

Comment by Jen – April 26, 2013 11:52 AM PDT  Reply To This Post

Comment by Molly – April 26, 2013 09:33 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Only thing remotely surprising about this is that NBC is giving Parenthood a full season… only the second full season pickup of its run – and its definitely deserved.

    • I agree. :D

Comment by EmilyK – April 26, 2013 12:00 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Could not agree more. It is one of the best, most realistic shows about everyday family life & issues on TV today. It is truly family entertainment with fine acting & wonderful writing. They don’t shove agendas in your face constantly either. They allow the characters to show emotions that are normal & how they ultimately resolve differences. It shows humanity with all its strengths & frailities. In short, the Bravermans reflect what is great about the decaying institution of marriage, of children being raised by both parents together, & the support of parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, & cousins in multiple generations. And my husband & I enjoy watching it together.

    • I’m beyond excited – Parenthood, Revolution, Law & Order: SVU, and Chicago Fire are some of my favorite shows. I’ve been catching up on Chicago Fire and was really getting worried that it would be my luck that I’ve fallen for this show and it wouldn’t be renewed. I’ve always been a fan of SVU. Loved Parenthood since the Series Premiere, and Revolution is oddly addicting.

      • Unfortunately “way too good” is usually an indicator that a show won’t find an audience. As far as crime procedurals go, I definitely think Hannibal is miles ahead of the pack. And Bryan Fuller has too good a track record for me not to watch anything he makes.

  • I have low hopes for Community getting renewed, but after last night’s episode, I’m actually sort of fine with that. I hate to see what NBC and Sony has done to my favorite show, and it seems like all the best writers have jumped ship by this point. Those wonderful actors just can’t carry the show by themselves. I’m going to have to wait until 2014 and the return of Louie before I can get excited about a comedy again. But I do hope things work out for Park and Rec. It’s not a show I get super excited to watch, but I do enjoy watching it.

Comment by Ashley – April 26, 2013 12:00 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • I personally think its too early to renew Revolution, its ratings are not great. I think its going to get the Smash treatment and at least partially be renewed to save face. And yeah, I know its dvr numbers are really good but its l+sd numbers are about the same as Smash was.

I don’t get why NBC doesn’t air a procedural after it, it worked so well for ABC with Castle and at least retention wise this year, Body Of Proof.

For the record, for all the crazy Belieber-esque fans, I watch the show and enjoy it, just taking from a pure ratings perspective.

I wonder how good Chicago Fire would do behind The Voice. I would maybe move Chicago Fire to Monday at 10, and keeping SVU where out is, put Chicago PD – aka the spinoff in Wednesdays at 10.

Also brilliant love Grimm, especially lately, thrilled for all renewed shows, can’t wait to hear about some more though.

Comment by Martin – April 26, 2013 12:00 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Totally agree. The show just isn’t good enough to deserve renewal, especially over Parks and Community (in spite of its weak season not counting last night). It’s just totally dumbed down easy to swallow sci-fi for the masses. I hope Rachel slaps Charlie again.

  • Grimm and no Parks & Rec. What is wrong with NBC?

  • I am surprised that Parenthood got 22 episodes I feel that the shorter amount made the stories more focused.

I have a sinking feeling that the delay in comedy renewals means more 13 episode seasons for NBC comedies next year.

    • I actually felt like storylines were rushed because of the shorter season. Like the Drew & Amy pregnancy storyline which only was featured for one episode.

    • I know no more having to wait 6 months for new episodes, and with the longer seasons things won’t have to be so rushed so they can flesh out their stories and make me cry even more.

  • When did Parks become a bubble show again??? It is listed as ‘A Sure Thing’ on your renewal card.

    What is going on?????

    • It’s ALWAYS been a bubble show. Just look at the ratings. They are TERRIBLE. TVLine listing it as “a sure thing” has always been because they are fanboys, not because they are reporting objectively.

    • Definitely Parks and Rec. Give it a shot past the first season. It just continues to get funnier.
