Heroes ReturnSave the cheerleader, launch a new programming initiative?

MSN, which is making a big push into original programming via Xbox, is in talks to revive NBC’s superhero drama Heroes, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Details remain sketchy, but sources confirm that MSN is interested in relaunching the once red-hot NBC Universal franchise with new stories and heroes, while mixing in cameos from the original series’ cast (schedules and interest permitting). The talks are said to be in the preliminary stages.

In February, MSN hired former NBC development executive Jada Miranda to oversee production of its fledgling Xbox entertainment studio under ex-CBS president Nancy Tellem (who came on board last fall).

Heroes‘ four-season run on NBC ended in February 2010.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

I’m one of the few people who stuck with the original through its entire run and I can confidently say I have no interest in this whatsoever.

    • dude says:

Agreed. Loved the show at first but it quickly lost steam and I’ve never felt like it was cut too short. If anything it went on too long. Hayden Panettiere is much better utilized on Nashville anyway.

    • Sean says:

This Sucks I Want The Cancelled Series With The Same Actors I Want The Story To Be Continued Not Some Crappy Remake They Owe That To Their Fans

      • Kari says:

Wow I’ve never heard that Fall Out Boy song before
But yeah seriously, bring back the original cast at least, bringing in new characters has never worked

      • Shein Die says:

I agree … I feel ‘in love’ with the actors and my hope is that original writer, Oliver Grigsby, of the BEST eps. is on board…it would be sweet if Greg Berlanti was tapped as showrunner/director.
I started with ep. 1 of Heroes and stayed till the very end!! .. yep, and @Sylars_Army was On Board at the very first !!

        • yes those writers would be a blessing, I hope this will come out even with new characters because then they could make a movie to tie them together and that would be epic :) <3

        • Dylan says:

I would love the show to continue I just watched the last episode that was released and was left with to be continued and thoughts still wondering! I would put money down to revive this series with at least a couple of the original cast. A complete new set of people wouldn’t make it a Heros remake. I believe placing new people in the cast would do well just not to many! This is my first comment on anything ever. Please contact me if any help to revive the show is needed.

          • I agree I was just left hanging. I want to know what happened to the original cast, from where we left off!

          • I agree this shows characters was the appeal, I ended up really loving the characters and miss the show very much.I think if they kept some of the original cast and had quest appearences from the original cast as they introduced us to new characters then we would adapt much easier. I would like to see where the storyline could go. I still watch all of the seasons over and every so often because i really miss the characters. I dont think I have ever been so attached to a show before. I would like to know if its ever going to be revived

      • Mike C. says:

I agree with you but I think a new cast would be easier for them to have a fresh start & not worry about loop holes & tying up loose ends. Atleast they said the original cast would make cameos. Heres why I think the original cast wouldnt return:

        Most Likely to return:
Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman): No current lead projects.
Noah Gray (Micah Sanders): No current lead projects.
James Kyson Lee (Ando masahashi): No current lead projects.
Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli): No current lead projects.
Zachary Quinto (Sylar): No current lead projects.
        Dana Davis (M

        • Justin Ariff says:

Really? Stale is doing the Star Trek flicks and more than likely American Horror Story Season 3. He’s probably the most important character in the whole show. Next to of course HRG and Claire and the petrellis. But they could just reference the Petrellis. Maybe a show about the company HRG works for and do it like a sci fi cop show and periodically have recurring members and nods?

Tawny Cypress (Simone Deavoux): Killed off season 1.
Leanard Roberts (D.L. Hawkins): Killed off season 2.

So pretty much, not much of a cast to come back to sadly.

        • Jim says:

Regardless of what else they are currently doing the ones I really want to see return are:

          Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman)
          James Kyson Lee (Ando Masahashi)
          Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli)
          Zachary Quinto (Sylar)
Milo Ventigmilia (Peter Petrelli) – With ALL his powers
          Hayden Panetierre (Claire Bennet)
          Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura)
          Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder Suresh)
          Jack Coleman (Noah Bennet)
Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) – I know he died but Hiro can time travel. They could easily change the timeline

The characters I DON’T ever want to see again are:

Ali Larter (Tracy Strauss) – Although the last sister Barbra might work.
          Dana Davis (Monica Dawson)
          Dana Ramirez (Mya Herrera)
Robert Knepper (Samuel Sullivan) – Probably my most hated character in all 4 seasons.

          • Kevin says:

What about the girl who could always locate people?

And one of my favorite characters was the Father Petrelli. I know he was killed off , but it was thought that he was killed off before as well so….

        • Kevin says:

Greg Gunberg’s got a pretty big role in Lifetime’s “The Client List” (the one Jennifer Love Hewitt’s famous for right now)

      • Tiffany says:

yes, I totally agree. I have developed a relationship with these characters…and to leave off like they did….they totally need to pick up where they left off. There is still so much potential with this show. Just need to reach out to the right viewers. and sorry , but I cant live without more Peter…lol

        • Nick says:

Yes i agree peter is totally my favorite heroes character. I love his ability in the beginning and the end. He rocks. I also really want heroes back, the way it used to be.

        • Dasho says:

Your last sentence….how many times have you uttered those words in your lifetime? Lol, JK!

Great show. I never watched it on air but just finally finished it on Netflix and can definitely say I’d love if it returned. The characters were indeed fantastic. But the writers did it once, they can do it again with a new cast. You would just have to keep an open mind going into it.

      • Jake Lafferty says:

I 100% agree if they make it i want the same people and the same sorta story where the odd person gets killed and then another joins if it is remade i want the better one

      • Joss Clarke says:

I totally agree with you, the whole four series in my view never started going downhill, I would much rather know what is going on, at the very least they should have a follow on episode and make it the last one, instead of leaving it at “to be continued…”

      • Shaun Weber says:

Yes. Lord knows the show was starting to sink when maya was introduced, don’t get me wrong I love the entire show, but I have to say I found myself wanting to turn it off when maya came on. I really had to push through that to get to the good stuff. Let them return to the story they left off with or don’t bring it back at all!! I love the show and they will destroy it if they get new actors and characters (at least bring back the favorites i.e. Sylar, Peter, Claire). I still wonder why they canceled it (or why the writers set up that cliffhanger that would never be fulfilled or explained they should have done a epilogue like harry potter and not have clair run up and do something crazy at the last second). Please bring back the show I love the way We love it!!!

      • Kira says:

EXACTLY I could not agree more. It needs to pick back up right where it was left off, or not at all. No matter how much not having it continued sucks, it wouldn’t be worth it if it was all new.

      • Nathaneal says:

You can’t just revive a show like Heroes. Especially when you tried to end it the way you did. Viewers are going to want to see the original cast continue where it was left off. A new cast would be pointless. In simplest terms it would ruin the show entirely.

      • Drew says:

        I agree 100 percent

      • mitie says:

        i agree with you!

      • CCasanova says:

I think the show was amazing from start to almost finish. I only say that because of them ending the show so abruptly it left so mmany unanswered questions. I think a heroes remake or continuation would be awesome! As long as some of the same actors are casted in their old roles. I know hayden/Claire can’t come back because of Nashville and maybe a few others are involved with something longterm as well but sylar, peter, hiro and Ando need to come back as the same characters. It would be nice if all the main characters were to at least do a couple appearances in the beginning jus to tie up some loose ends and all and then start introducing new heroes. Throughout the series they have introduced many new and different pple so I don’t see it being too hard. I want to know who sylar has a kid with and why his name is Noah and things like that. I believe that if you guys could get at least a handful of the original cast to sign a contract and you tie up those loose ends that it will be a hit with the right story line. How could it not? I love this show and miss it! Bring it back w Peter and Sylar!

    • Carlos says:

Better scripts, better scripts, better scripts. The first two season were identical to each other. There was no growth or interesting storytelling. This could be resolved in the new show with compelling storytelling. How do you go wrong with superpowered characters? I’m looking forward to what could be.

    • It went downhill when Bryan Fuller left, they got him back for part of season 3, but he couldn’t save the mess they’d made of it. If it came back with him on board, I’d be excited for this.

    • Nick says:

the idea is thier changing some of the cast tho its a mini series spin off i think it would be worth it

    • Rival X says:

me either. No original Cast equals no watching for me.

    • Craig says:

I respect that view having seen the entire series as well. That said, I disagree. The old cast would be great, yet even a new cast, granted done well, could be interesting. I for one would watch.

    • Michael says:

I loved the original series, but just as in 2 and a half men when Charlie Sheen left the show, ratings went down the drain. I believe the same thing will happen here, but I will be totally honest. I would love to see how someone turns the end of season 4 into something. Id watch it even if it is horrible just to lay my unanswered thoughts to rest.

      • Jim says:

Season 4 was the worst of the seasons but still not bad. However, the ending was great! It was very promising that it could get better.

    • REWREW says:

    • emma says:

Yes I’m for one to bring the ‘Cheerleader’ back. In a few years she’ll be a Silas figure and her daughter/son will be trying to ‘understand’ her.. Brilliant show, brilliant cast, miss it! Best thing on tv for years and why haven’t they made a film?!? Possibilities are endless – well better than Star Trek / Marvel Heroes etc etc. They should have carried it on :( I hope so, I miss my Heroes!!! :)

      • Jim says:

Really?! I’ll admit the last season was a huge decline. The circus gang was terrible and Peter losing his powers was stupid. However, the way they ended it was GREAT! It opened up so many possibilities that could give the show new life.

    • amari B. says:

Are you kidding? They ended season 4 with “To be continued…” Now you’re not interested? I am.

    • Serina says:

it should definitely come back!!! i love that show but with the same actors though without the same sylar peter and all the rest it wouldn’t be the same really, but if the actors come back to then yes i think it really should come back

    • WILL says:

Im in the middle of se3ason 3 on net flix and was wondering if it was still airing, sucks to find out its been canceled. Hell id even watch or read a commic book or something to close the show out, it just stops and leaves you hanging….. such is life I guess! nov 16 2013

    • Angel says:

if there’s no interest then how did you find this page idiot!!!

    • Clint de barros says:

i absolutely loved the series just season four was kinder crap but i think they should so have another season to really close it off

    • Nick says:

All I want to say is anyone who thinks hero’s wasn’t good or they didn’t like the first seaon ect.. Thanks crazy hero’s was by far one of the best shows ever made!! And yes you guys can start it right back up where you left off, it would be amazing! I and probably so many others would love at least one more seaon, because you can’t just leave all your fans hanging like that we want to see a real ending no matter what happens there needs to be at least one more season please!?!

    • Stevenson says:

Season 2…. Hiro Nakamara sat there an watched the Samuri Kensei get riddled with Arrows, Easily would’ve stopped that with his power. Peter Patrelli sits at the table with the theives who possess his identity in a box…. Seriously? He has enough power to simply have taken the box that was right there in front of him. Simply put…. The show became a pure bust after that.

    • angel says:

I don’t really want it to happen either, but fell in love with Sylar and now I want to find out what happened to him after he turned good and if he stays good.

  2. That would be very cool.

  3. Jasonbres says:

I don’t know. A majority of the stars are on other shows and projects. Hayden is on Nashville, the guy who played Mohinder is on Beauty and the Beast, Zachary is on American Horror Story, and Masi is on Hawaii Five-0.

    • Matthew says:

Read the article properly. They want new cast members and new storylines and have old cast members just as guest stars or cameos. That won’t be too hard to arrange.

  4. Edith says:

They’ll have to be careful not to run the storylines into the ground like they did last time. It wasn’t worth watching after season 2.

    • Tusk says:

I agree….multiple story lines and season arcs are ok, but Heroes felt meandering near the end, as if they didn’t expect to still be going and were making the story up as they went along in no particular direction.

I was sort of enjoying SF’s Alphas, but they never got to mature as a series :(

    • MJ says:

I agree as well. I stopped watching after Season 2.

      • Fernanda says:

me too. Tim Kring ruined the show with stupid crazy story lines without any interesting plots. We need the original cast and another cray time travel and revive death characters like Nathan, Elle or Niki. Tracy Strauss was the worst character, specially in season 4

        • Jim says:

I wasn’t a big fan of Tracy Strauss but she was far from the worst character of season 4. The worst character in season 4 was anyone from the circus gang.

        • Willow Polson says:

Please see my separate comment, which is basically this: Tim did not ruin the show. It was a room full of writers, not just one man and a computer. He was just one more voice in the writer’s room and did not have total creative control over every storyline.

    • Kevin says:

  5. Holly Chandler says:

    Yes. Yes, I do.

  6. C says:

    Ugh, no. Just…no.

  7. Dean says:

I was just thinking about this the other day. After the first season, Heroes had a lot of potential that just went unfulfilled. I’ll definitely watch again if they could find the right producer and showrunner that emphasizes character driven stories.

  8. bigby_wolf says:

Oh dear, I’m too burned by what happened to the original run to even know if I would give this a chance. Maybe if they announced that Tim Kring isn’t involved in anyway, I’ll give it a shot because he ran what could have been an amazing series completely into the ground with repetitive, nonsensical storylines.

  9. NevadaUte says:

I think that a new series with new heroes (especially ones they were willing to kill off) would make for an interesting show. Maybe take the American Horror Story anthology route… each season is a new batch of Heroes. This would free them up to use or kill off the ones they have each season. The original show was originally planning to kill off Heroes and replace them with new ones, but people got too attached to Peter and the Cheerleader and Hiro and they thought it would kill the show to kill them off. Ironically, I think it killed the show more by coming up with contrived storylines about regeneration, reboots and time travel in order to keep them alive.

  10. I’m still shocked NBC canceled it. It would have been worth renewing for a 5th and final season of a 23 episode renewal for that 100 episode syndication deal.

  11. Mika says:

I loved the concept and season 1 but the producers of the original definitely ran that one into the ground. If they just took the concept and started fresh, I’d give it a shot. No need to bring back the original characters.

  12. Josh says:

So they’re taking an unoriginal idea and making it even more unoriginal? How exciting!

  13. Chris says:

I stayed with the show through to the end. And yes, I did get convuluted in the third season and I didn’t like the story in season four -but after enduring the current season of Once Upon A Time -Heroes, to me, is so much more interesting at it’s end than OUAT is rght now. Both series had that magical feel in their first seasons. I hope any revival brings back that air of mystery and discovery.

    • Bo says:

funny that l feel the opposite
      – The advantage with ONCE is that they have really good individual episodes
      and the characters are interesting
      but Heroes
      – killed off the most interesting characters e.g. Niki and Elle
and focused or wrote poor story lines for those who were left
Claire became horrible poor Hayden the girl acts her socks off in Nashville because its written pretty well
-The show lost something big in season 2 and never got it back
-and not to mention after 4 years
the Heroes should have been put together
instead they had separate and annoying story lines
      – The killing off good characters for drammatic effect sucked

The biggest mistake ONCE avoided was
      – no keeping the curse thing
Storybrooke scenes bored me a lot in season 1 except for well some
      -Everyone knows who they are
      Once can be saved

For Heroes it became so bad no one could save it

It was sad to watch the writers run the show into the ground
l hope ONCE comes back with a bang next season

      • ej says:

I agree and disagree. OUAT is in danger of going the way of Heroes IMO. The problem with OUAT was breaking the curse too soon and introducing the tri-world storytelling style for the first half of the season. This lead to the introduction of too many new characters, like Heroes, that interfered with stories about the core cast and their storylines such that the intended “themes” at the start of the season became completely undermined. Then there was the wishy-washy redemption thing with Regina like Sylar (sp?) and killing off Cora too soon as Hereos did with several characters who still had potential to create interesting conflict in order to introduce new lame threats (Tamara seems to be like that government agency thing that just stunk). I fear OUAT won’t learn the lessons of Heroes, taking a hit idea and ruining it with disjointed plotlines, an over-filled cast, killing off the “likable” bad guys too soon while keeping around the ones (like Hook) that are just poorly written, and too many wonky hiatuses. Also, I agree about Claire; Henry’s getting just as annoying on OUAT. Hopefully, if this MSN thing goes through, they will just stick with a short anthology-type thing like (hopefully) the Once Wonderland spin-off will do, or I have little hope for either. Maybe NBC should forget saving the cheerleader to save the world and save some money to save their network with better pilots for 2013/2014?

        • Chris says:

This is exactly how I feel too and why I compared OUAT with Heroes. Both shows had great first seasons -but really suffered during the second. I’m not getting a good feeling about OUAT’s future -I don’t think they learned Heroes example. Both concepts went too broadly too quickly. But I had a lot of faith in Heroes to pull it all in -it just fell apart when producers added too many superhero elements. Just like OUAT has thrown in everything in season 2 -I’m getting bored far more quckly with OUAT than I had with Heroes.

          • I love Robert Carlyle. And have to wonder if OUAT knew what they were getting when they cast him. Nevertheless, I am six episodes behind and I’m not sure I will watch them. No longer a great show. Just OK. Grim Writers – don’t mess that show up.

  14. denial1 says:

I think when tey wait so long to bring something back you have to start replacing actors and original chemistry is gone

  15. April says:

I loved (loved!) the first season of Heroes. Everything after that was a travesty. The only way I’d entertain a reboot is if it involved none of the original cast whatsoever. They’ve suffered enough.

  16. Seeing as season four ended (SPOILER ALERT) with Claire outing people with powers, this could work very well storyline wise with a new batch of Heroes. If they’re smart though, they could add one or two original characters like Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Sylar (Zachary Quinto) OR possibly Claire (Hayden Panettiere) (if Nashville is canceled) to familiarize people with the show and what it used to be.

    • bigby_wolf says:

I think they should stray away from really adding ANY of the original characters from the first run as anything other than cameo roles. That was the reason the first run crashed and burned – they weren’t willing to let any of the characters go (Claire, Peter, Sylar, Hiro, Nathan) long after their storylines were more than finished. They also dropped characters that had plenty of potential and story left in them (Elle, Monica, Micah, Adam, Daphne, Meredith, Candice).

  17. Esaul says:

Without the original cast, no. And you can’t get the original cast to do this either.

  18. Roger Canada says:

Come on… nobody missed that show.

But a revival of Chuck would be perfect for Xbox !

    • Mike says:

Chuck had a good ending, it does not need an revival.

      • Tusk says:

        Resurrect Legend of the Seeker!
I need Tabrett Bethell’s snark and cynicism as Cara on my screen ! :D

      • Tater says:

CHUCK definitely needs a revival…There was still so much story to tell, And had it got a fair shake in the first place. NBC could never give it any certainty on how many episodes it would have or if it would even get more episodes at all, And I think the show writers worked wonders with what NBC gave them to work with.

  19. Winston Mize says:

I’m thinking this could work. think they should bring back at least one or two original cast members, it just doesn’t have to be a big one. Maybe Monica or Micah just to get the ball rolling. The fact that the show was done in volumes could work to it’s advantage. re-inventing itself each volume. I think the show killed itself pandering to certain characters…. No Hiro, no Nikki/barb/Jess, no claire, no peter and no sylar for sure. I think this could work.

Sucks that my xbox was crap and stopped working and I switched to the ps3.

  20. HeroesFan says:

Has to be original cast for it to work!!! IF its a mini series they might be able to get original cast back for a few episodes!

  21. The Kaibosh says:

The original was ruined by the producers trying to pander to the fickle viewer based on their internet posts. Examples: Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere started dating in real life so writers tried to draw on that attention and wrote in situations where Claire and Peter were romantically linked such as future Claire declaring her love for Peter. The fickle, ignorant masses still reeling from from the premature cancellation of Veronica Mars fell madly in love with Kristen Bell’s Elle; even though Elle as a character was uneven and badly written. Sylar was at his best as an enigmatic psychopath but because so many fangirls liked the fact that Zachary Quinto and Kristen Bell are real life good friends; the writers and producers in their great wisdom thought it would be a good idea for Elle and Sylar to hookup. These are just some example of how NOT to produce a show. Writers should have the courage to write their stories and tell them they way they want. Not to be hacks pandering to the whims of shippers. This is why Glee is failing and why Heroes was ultimately cancelled. Unless MSN does something about that mindset; they shouldn’t even bother.

    • Thank you for noticing *why* it went off the rails. I remember having a conversation w/ my sister about the storyline being… “Influenced” by the fans, and her reaction was (paraphrased), “WHAT? Why? As a writer I am horrified by this! What’s wrong with these writers?”

    • jw says:

it went all down hill after Season 1. The show was really hurt by the writers strike in Season 2 too but the whole Season 2 story with Peter in Ireland was beyond stupid. The last season with the carnival freaks was pretty lousy too. Don’t even get me started on what they did to Hero’s character

    • Willow Polson says:

I’m not sure how you think you know all this, but that’s not what happened. For example, Peter and Claire are uncle/niece, and were never romantically linked in the show at any time. She loved him as family, not “in that way.” Were you in the writer’s room? Have you spoken to any of the writers? You’re posting opinion as fact.

  22. Sebastian says:

I wish Bryan Fuller was involved in this revival. He wrote some of my favorite episodes.

  23. I loved HEROES, even when it went totally off the rails on a crazy train. I’m with Jarrod: NBC shouldn’t have canceled it; they should’ve let the crazy continue on into Season 5 for syndication purposes. But bringing it back? I don’t know how I feel about that. I got attached to the original characters, so I would like them to come back, but I really don’t think any of the actors would.
So maybe the American Horror Story-style anthology approach is best… ? I guess as a fan who watched the entire series, I’d like it to come back in some form or other. Just let it be known that despite my extreme, passionate fandom for the show, I can’t really remember the story beyond Season 1, and that’s pretty sad.

  24. Heroes :The Next Generation.

Half a decade after Claire makes the existence of empowered beings public knowledge, what effect does it have in the world?

The previous series sets the stage for a very cool follow up.

I’m hoping we get that and not a reboot, that would suck.

I also hope (or should I say “I also S”? I just saw the trailer for Man of Steel…) that whoever they put in charge learns from the mistakes the previous series made and doesn’t repeat them.

I am concerned that whatever show we do get might lack the production values of the original. I’d hate to end up with a show produced on the budget of a webseries. The Heroes webisodes were not that good, and while things like Mortal Kombat: Legacy and BSG: Blood & Chrome were okay, they aren’t great. They still look cheap. High-concept cheap, but cheap nonetheless. They’re doing with computers what 25 years ago Roger Corman was doing with matte paintings.

  25. Paul Penna says:

    New creative team, new characters…

If they can do that, they might have a great show.

The problem with Heroes is that they abandonned their original plan to feature a new cast every season and had no idea where to go with their existing characters.

Heroes has a lot of potential, it’s just a question on whether they can deliver on that potential.

  26. Matt says:

If the show is completely redone and is written by someone completely different with a whole new cast. . . .maybe.

    • sheindie says:

13 episodes, new actors ~ with some cameos from original series .. it will work =)
as of Jan. 2014 more than 10 million DVDs have been sold .. Heroes = one of the BEST SELLING TV series on dvd of all time ..

    Please no

  28. quang says:

Not enough time has past for the general public to have forgotten one of TV’s biggest free-falls. I’ve never seen a show where people openly celebrated a show’s cancellation like I did with Heroes. If they want a suitable geek audience, why not just adapt a critically acclaimed graphic novel or video game property? Alan Wake or Perfect Rain could make for a great TV series.

    • Kevin says:

Boo! Loved it and I don’t think Season One was even my favorite. My favorite was the portion of Season Two when they brought back Papa Petrelli.

      • Jim says:

The first and second seasons were my favorite. Arthur Petrelli wasn’t in season two. He was in season three. Season two ended with Peter destroying the virus. Arthur Petrelli is the one that took Peter’s powers which was the biggest writing mistake of the entire show. I liked all four seasons but it did suffer after Peter lost his powers. Season four was probably the worst. The circus group was terrible.

  29. Ib Nancy says:

Loved Heroes until the last season. That whole storyline with the creepy guy in the carnival was too out there. Was better when they were hiding from the gov’t and/or the company. If they do revive it I hope they go back along that vein and not some weirdo trying to take over the world and the Heroes again.
Going to be hard to even have guest shots from those already in series, so they would have to start again with a new cast.

  30. kryptonsite says:

I tend to think that, although the TV-loving internet remembers the way the show fizzled, the general public may have forgotten the show’s decline.

Watching the Season 1 DVD, especially, I see a lot of promise in the concept… we could luck out and maybe most could overlook the bad times.

My own personal feeling is that Heroes fizzled partly because the stakes were gone. People would die and be back by the next commercial break. That downfall really started with the Season 1 finale, which had no on-screen casualties or consequence. Also, some really bad retconning in Season 3 (“Villains” still makes me shudder) hurt the show’s lore a lot.

All they’d really need is even one person from the original show and I think it could work… though I wish it would be on NBC itself, since they’re more in need of hits. I don’t believe Heroes as a franchise is dead… I don’t think MSN/Xbox can afford to make it, but maybe they’ll do a DirecTV/Friday Night Lights deal where they eventually run on broadcast? We’ll see… I do hope this pans out, and thanks as always to Ausiello for sharing the news. I trust news like this a lot more coming from you, moreso than say that silly Friends rumor yesterday.

  31. TVgeekster says:

Hey Hollywood — here’s an idea — THINK OF SOMETHING NEW.

I watched ALL of HEROES and dug it. And would have continued to watch if NBC renewed it. But c’mon — years later, we have all moved on.

I am so tired of all the recrap on both TV and in the movies!

  32. Judy says:

Let sleeping dogs lie!!! Don’t re-hash old ideas, come up with new ones! That show ran its course, or should I say”over ran”.

  33. Mtb says:

For me, the original just had to many “Heroes”. They need to keep it to a few good ones and a few bad ones with 1 big bad to keep it going. They were just coming out of the wood work first time around. Not sure on this though.

  34. Allison says:

I have no reason to watch unless Angela Petrelli is back and at least one other Petrelli and they actually save the world. As bad as the show got, the Petrellis kept me watching and the fact that the bad future the elders tried to change, what happened in 5 years gone, actually happened (Thanks Claire!) and Nathan died – etc – made for the most depressing end of a series every.

    • gennyQ says:

The Petrellis need to be a part of this new miniseries. Peter and an alive Nathan(oh come on, it would not be hard to bring him back, this is Heroes!) can be mentors to the younger generation(Nathan’s two sons, Micah, Molly, etc) while still being a part of the action. We need the Petrelli brothers back!

  35. Brandon Rowe says:

I would probably watch it, but the cast would have to be great, and I mean absolutely wonderful, because a show like this can just go off the deep end. It’s what happened to the original after the first season. I stuck through it until about halfway through the third I think and by that time I just didn’t care what happened to anyone. I did tune into the last episode of the series because I knew it was going to be the end and it was just unbelievably boring.

  36. mike10dude says:

I would check it out but there are lots of other old shows that I would rather see brought back

  37. jfritz says:

I would rather see CHUCK come back! With the original cast…
Heroes was good and all, but I dono. I think they are trying to do this because of all the talks about shows with similar stories working on coming out.
Chuck is still the most original show I’ve seen, that you can’t help but fall in love with every character.

  38. actually…no. not without original cast

  39. As a forever fan of Heroes and HRG, I probably won’t be watching this new show with a new cast and especially a cast without Jack Coleman. *shrugs*

  40. Scott S. says:

I’d be interested to see what they do with it. A lot of you have already mentioned rehashed storylines, and that was always the problem with the show. If I had a nickle for every season where Claire was mistrustful of Noah, I’d have 20 cents, for example.

A lot of the characters were interesting, but yeah, somewhere along the line the show just lost the spark it had (starting with the mildly confusing season one finale) and then yeah, popular characters basically creeping into odd storylines because they were fan favourites.

A post-reveal world could be interesting, provided they actually set up a good story and execute it well. I’d also be willing to give it a chance for sure if Jack Coleman came back.

  41. This could be cool, we might finally get a proper Peter vs Sylar showdown, Hiro would return to add humor to all the drama, could have some cool cameos from others… As long as they steer clear of the whole “carnival” storyline, that was a complete fiasco and IMO is what took the show off a cliff!

  42. Fringefan says:

    YES, YES, YES!!!!

  43. Mel says:

They f’d it up so bad the first time around…I think a second chance is in order. It started with such a cool concept. If done correctly (like season 1) the show has potential.

  44. I thought season one was the best tv series I ever watched. I came in late and had to buy it on Itunes. I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. watching each episode. Amazing. Then season two came along and I blamed the weakness on the writers strike. Then I don’t know what happened. Those writers took an amazing concept and ruined it by adding in more and more heroes that we didn’t care about, stupid plot lines, conspiracies, etc. Why couldn’t they just stick with the concept that got them amazing reviews?

I see this with other series as well. Ordinary People is one. Great beginning. Ordinary people with extraordinary abilities solving or helping situations. Then they added bad guys, conspiracies, etc. until CANCELLED.

The writers ought to ask my permission before they start messing with a show that is working. Arrow writers – don’t screw with it. It’s perfect the way it is.

  45. TJCrinc says:

i think that since they are starting with new heroes, i think it might work. as long as they bring back what original pulled people in. personally i think they should keep the cameo’s to a minimum and try not to be like “Alphas”. if its too similar, the show will plummet like the original.

  46. I watched the first season and all I have to say is “huh?” This just doesn’t seem interesting to me, especially considering the shows spiral in ratings after its first season.

  47. Tone LG says:

Forget Heroes that ended poorly a few years ago already and bring back the much more entertaining Alphas that ended just last year.

  48. Mikael says:

The first season seems like a completely different show than the following 3 seasons. The writers strike didn’t help, but the story went out of control. They set up a villain that was supposed to be “worse than Sylar” and then quickly backtracked and brought Sylar back because people liked Zachary Quinto too much. IMO, he overstayed his welcome. If you ignore the “chapter 2” preview, Heroes could be seen as a brilliant miniseries that ended very well. Hopefully they get it right this time. And I agree about Once. It’s not too late to fix that show.

    • Strizbiz says:

Lol, I agree, I just started watching the series ( better late than never ) on demand. I’m almost done with series 3 and I thought the Sylar character was a good one but the character but I’m getting tired of him. I hope he’s not in season 4.

  49. Evyn says:

I loved the concept so as long as it´s well written I´m all for it
