Castle Episode BombABC has decided to delay Monday’s Castle, which features a bomb-related plot, in light of this week’s attack at the Boston Marathon, TVLine has learned.

The episode, titled “Still,” finds the team attempting to disarm a bomb that Beckett has stepped on. It will now air one week later on Monday, April 29.

The episode originally scheduled for April 29, “The Squab and the Quail,” will now air on April 22, replacing “Still.”

Not surprised. Probably the right call.

    • eridapo says:

Just read that there was a huge explosion in a Texas Fertilizer plant with dozens killed and hundreds wounded…. so if not before the explosion in Texas just adds another reason to make the switch…

Tact and Respect for the victims

      • asdf says:

I agree. Heartfelt sympathies to the people of Boston and Texas… in the great scheme of things it’s nice that ABC is being considerate, and doesn’t hurt the show at all. Fans know about the schedule change and casual ones will simply see the episodes out of order.

    • JJ says:

Seems like a dumb episode anyway. All of the promo pics are of Beckett just standing there.

      • am1406 says:

Of course she’s just standing there: if she moves, she blows herself up. But she’s not alone, Castle is there too, and there’s plenty of time for them to have meaningful conversation. I’m pretty sure you’re in the minority if you think it will be a dumb episode.

      • castlelover says:

Seriously? That’s your takeaway from the promo? Man, you really asked for it…hope you’re ready for some of the replies you’re likely to get :)

      • mstylefashions says:

Uh…NO!!! If she moves she gunna frikin die so yah of course she is just standing around!!!!

    • GREG says:

GEESH, ABCs Big Wigs seem to forget that when you have a storyline it is kinda STUPID to
FLIP-FLOP 1st run episodes. I’m RECORDING BOTH so I can play them later in the correct order

  2. Bernadine says:

Makes Sense. Sad we have to wait another week to watch this ep

    • Andy says:

At least we’re still getting a new episode on Monday, and we aren’t going to lose the chance to see the replaced episode.

      • I actually would prefer a rerun and then an extension of the Season. Stana’s wonderful tweet suggested it does affect the sequence of the storyline – arc. I hope as a favor to the show and fans ABC gives us a renewal announcement at least. Maybe run some extra promos since promoting Squab hadn’t happened.

I am not surprised that ABC would make this move. It helps prevent the show from becoming tainted by the Boston tragedy. The uninformed might have misunderstood timelines of shooting a show and thought ABC and Castle were trying to capitalize on what happened.

  3. martina says:

This is madness! I feel sympathy for the victims and their families, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t get how this can offend anyone! I mean, it’s a TV show! And an episode we’ve been waiting for a while now.

Oh well.. Hopefully they’ll run it the week after.

    • martina says:

Oops, I didn’t get the last part where it says it’ll run the week after. My bad.

    • Amanda says:

It’s not about offending people. It’s about tact. It’s tactless to air an episode about bombs following a bombing that killed three and injured almost 200 more. Castle isn’t the first show to get switched and it won’t be the last. At this point, it’s not about making fans happy. It’s about respect.

      • Bethany Thomas says:

      • scooby says:

The bombings happened earlier Monday and they still ran the promos intending to promote “Still” that night. They knew the episode set to air. It sure seems like that tact took a couple days to occur to someone. You’d think if it was a thoughtful decision with the intent of showing respect to the people of Boston, ABC would’ve made it more quickly. It was more of a gesture of ‘we want to protect Castle’s national ratings by not looking bad/remembering that Boston’s a big ratings market for us.’ The thing is, I was watching the show and promo Monday and it never occurred to me to connect it to what had happened earlier and go ‘oh how tacky to still air that.’ Probably should’ve, but it didn’t–no doubt it would’ve smacked me in the face when the show actually ran. A bombing in a crowd occurred last season on Castle. If it’s in rotation on TNT, they’ll probably pull it for awhile. Just shows how prevalent violence in general is on tv that so many shows have to scramble after events like this. Although I was anticipating this episode, at least we’re getting a different one. Sometimes it screws up relationship continuity as happened recently with The Mindy Project. If Andrew Marlowe, etc. are comfortable with us seeing the new 4/22 ep, then I’m fine with whatever.

        • scooby says:

PS. I don’t want to act like no one at ABC thought about respecting people in Boston, it’s just that they’re beholden to shareholders. If doing something is a good financial decision they’re obligated to make it. I can see how shifting Castle eps makes financial sense for ABC. Airing it as scheduled is at best not an issue, at worst prone to backlash. More upside to moving it, plus they look good for declaring what they’re doing.

        • Amanda says:

Or, if you read Stana’s tweet, it’s entirely about respect.

        • Ali says:

Satellite feeds of the Castle TV show had already been sent. There was very little that ABC-TV could do just a few hours after the horrific events in Boston, to revise that night’s previews iat the end of that evening’s episode! If you knew all it takes just to air a television show on a national level, you’d be very glad they pulled next week’s episode.

          • J.L. Jones says:

Actually, since everything is run by computer the network could have told their affiliates to withhold airing the promo for Still. All it takes is an email and an engineer removing the problem. And FYI: networks can “pre-empt” episodes rather quickly.

        • David says:

“47 Seconds” is in the rotation tonight! Hope they pull it. Not appropriate this soon. Also, don’t want any bad stigma related to Castle.

          • J.L. Jones says:

Oh please! Are you that sensitive? Stop being so knee-jerky. That’s what’s wrong with a lot of Americans… some us are just hyperactive sorts who’d rather HIDE under the blankets and wait for the evil to pass over.

      • Len says:

Because an extra week delay makes it all magically okay! Here’s your tragedy, you’ve had a week, move on and lets get back to normal! We’ve given you a week to deal, what more do you want!

I agree it should be delayed. I strongly disagree a week delay is acceptable if the whole purpose is the timing was bad. The people injured will just be starting to recover. Those killed just barely buried. If you are going to delay it, have some real tact, and mover more than a useless week out.

      • Tarc says:

And when was the last American person you ran into that has tact? If you’ve got triggers, do your part and be aware of what you’re watching.

      • Jenny says:

Its a show its tv and fictional. If this was about tact, then shows would pull all shows about violence, war, etc because it goes on every day!

        • lyn says:

ITA. It’s pretzel logic. By that thinking they should not have made war movies during WWII because watching soldiers die would hurt too much. And don’t say that was a war. So is this.

      • LaurenMC says:

      • JJ says:

While 47 seconds airs on TNT! Which is pretty close to recent events.

    • Jennifer says:

Are you aware the Today show did something with same appliance used as prop as what was used in bombing the day AFTER bombing? A bombing that killed 3 people? Insensitive and tacky, but it’s only tv, right? No, Castle did the right thing even if that episode never airs, it’s still right thing to do.

      • JJ says:

If you’re worried about sensitivity– don’t watch the news. I guess we should ban marathons–for sensitivity reasons. Donate money and air the episode.

        • Jennifer says:

I ALREADY DON’T WATCH THE NEWS. Even if this episode never airs people will still die as they do everyday everywhere, my point was Castle is only doing what they think is best under the circumstances.

    • Alan says:

imagine it was one of your family members who was killed in the bombing, then you see this on tv, its understandable why this was pulled.

    • a says:

It’s madness to have such a reaction to a change in a **TV SHOW**. Geez, get a life.

  4. Babygate says:

At least ABC is being sensitive to gravity of the situation and allowing time for sensitivity to wane. Good call…

  5. Jessica says:

Right…because an extra week will totally make me forget about those bombs in my city…I don’t see a difference so they should just air it when it was supposed to!

    • Amanda says:

It’s not about forgetting. It’s about respecting the city and its people. It’s about allowing a city time to heal, and to give them the space they need before airing something so close to home. It’s no longer about giving the Castle fans what they want. It’s about giving a city (my city, as well) time, and showing them (and the victims) respect.

  6. janet says:

    maybe its better

  7. Vanessa says:

While I understand why the decision was made, it still stinks. I was really looking forward to this episode.

  8. Jake L says:

Is there anything in these episodes that will not make sense if they are aired out of order? I understand the rationale behind the delay, although Castle does have serialized elements mixed in with the case of the week. How is this change going to affect the continuity of the show?

    • Jay says:

hopefully not because castle’s a show where the episodes stand alone something that happened the week before wouldn’t matter too much if someone just started watching the week after (hopefully that makes sense? lol) but im not too sure about this for these episodes mainly because the seasons coming to a close and this is when problems start to arise and carry on throughout the next episode kinda (e.g last three or four episodes of season 4)

    • Laura says:

Still was actually written after The Squab and The Quill. Still was an extra episode that ABC ordered, its official production number is actually 524, meaning it should be the 24th episode of season 5 instead of the 21st but Marlowe didn’t want it to be the finale. There shouldn’t be any continuity problems but if there are, we can forgive them for seven days

      • martina says:

Yes, it was written after The Squab and the Quail but it was written in a way that would fit before it.

Stana just tweeted that there will be continuity issues, indeed.

      • Jay says:

stana tweeted about it. i wont watch the squab and the quail till still airs so i can watch it as how it was originally supposed to be aired. just because it was written about the squab episode doesn’t really matter.

    • Stana said in a tweet that the chronology is going to be off, so I guess. I’m thinking about not watching The Squab and the Quail until Still airs but I strongly doubt that I’m going to succeed in this.

    • Kiwi says:

I’d only really be upset if the Squab and the Quill opens with Beckett’s funeral…

  9. Jamie says:

Bummer. It seemed a littl weird to me that they were going to have this episode where they talk about “who feel for whom first” then the next episode they have Beckett doubting their future. I also wonder where they will fit this in later. I bet it just ends up on the DVD box set

  10. luli says:

Well at least the storyline will make a bit more sense? In the “The Squab and the Quill” Beckett is forced to reflect on her relationship with Castle, which has begun to plateau… and in Still their love will be reassured???

And maybe they are making the right call to delay the episode, but I really see no difference… One week or two days makes doesn’t make it better. This is just a tv show they should just air the episode…

    • Amy says:

It’ll actually mess with the storyline…they placed ‘still’ where they did for a reason
It may not make sense right now since we only have press releases but it’ll make perfect sense once the episode airs…Marlowe and the writers know what they’re doing and they wouldn’t just arbitrarily place an episode where it wouldn’t make sense…

      • am1406 says:

I’m less convinced of Marlowe’s infallibility than many fans seem to be. I don’t mind some continuity errors but there are several things which make no sense. For example, in 1×02 Nanny McDead, why suggest that Beckett had been in love before, then make such a big issue of her walls and inability to commit? And switching the order of 3×11 an 3×12 messed things up more than I would have liked. There’s quite a difference between Castle refusing to sleep with someone when he’s in a relationship and refusing when he’s single.

        • Mike says:

I really like your analysis…I’m new to Castle (only 2-3 months…Hawaii 5-0, sorry)…trying to make up via TNT…I’ll look for those episodes you mentioned…thanks, again.

  11. Mark says:

I understand why they’d do it, but I don’t really see what difference one week makes. Either show it as scheduled or delay it a more significant amount of time. My guess is that they don’t want to have to re-film any scenes like Bones had to when Player Under Pressure got shoved to a whole different season after Virginia Tech.

  12. Nick says:

Won’t airing the episodes out of order mess up the continuity?

  13. Steph says:

I am bummed, since I have been looking forward to this episode. At least this is the extra episode ABC ordered, which I presume was written after “The Squab and the Quill,” but I really have no idea.
I will just have to re-watch the episode’s in the correct order after both of them premiere.

  14. Alie Hunter says:

I might be alone, but given what we know about each episode the arc may progress smoother with the switch. 21) Beckett deals with a goofy “plateau”, then the next week is standing on a bomb realizing that nothing matters except being with Castle. She would never leave him no matter what they are going through.

    • Lola Black says:

Yeah… On paper, given what we know, that *sounds* better… But I have to think the intended order makes sense for reasons we don’t know yet. Given how it’s playopefully you’re right though!

    • Lola Black says:

My post totally messed up. I was trying to say given how things are playing out, hopefully you’re right!

    • Lauren says:

I think the continuity will still be off, because in 5×23, apparently she is “still wrestling with the questions that Vaugh poses” to her in what was was going to air as 5×22–questions that continue to haunt the pair as they move into the finale (5×24). Now, we’ll have: (1) questions (5×22); (2) no more questions (5×21); (3) questions again (5×23); and (4) questions yet again (5×24). If SK did, indeed, tweet that the continuity would be off (I’m not on Twitter, so that was news to me…), I think she’s right.

  15. Lola Black says:

I understand this call, and it’s probably the right decision not to air Still this week… But I actually wish they’d just show a rerun instead and delay everything a week, rather than showing episodes out of order. I feel like whoever made that decision is sitting behind a desk somewhere and has never seen a single episode of Castle. Episode order matters to the story. I may actually just DVR it this week and save it to watch in the intended order. Still looks so intense, I’m sure it affects what happens following it!

  16. 117 says:

Yes but stana did tweet that it messes with the continuity of the show…I think ABC did the right move about shifting it…

  17. Stanatic says:

Sorry but I completely agree with ABC, especially in lieu of tonights explosion here in Texas. I agree with Stana, its a respect thing. Its a tv show, and we’re still getting a new episode. I’m sure its not gna be a big deal in the grand scheme o things

  18. srieley says:

I guess i get where they are coming from, but what difference is a week going to make? Either show it or dont. I think by becoming skiddish about the subject matter and changing things like air dates of shows or really anythjng we are giving to people who did this more attention, which is what they wanted in the first place. When wd start letting the crazies oc the world dictate our lives we are giving them the power they want and are loosing the battle instead of saying hey you nut, you do not control me and i will not give you a single miniute of attention, suck it. And i may not have been in boston but i was in that movie theater i. Auroua colorado last summer and i still believe this to be true.

    • I agree. Whenever I see networks do something like this to show respect for the victims, I see it as a win for the cowards acts of violence inflicted on people, because we’re showing that they have affected us to and we will change how we were going to do things because of them. I remember when HAVEN did this after Newtown, and honestly, the episode they held back really wasn’t that bad. And honestly, when I saw the promo for STILL, my mind didn’t connect it to what happened in Boston. This is what I call trying to be too political correct and cover all your bases so you don’t risk offending someone. Well, guess what? No matter what, you always will offend someone. And on a show that continuity is so important, I would rather have a repeat than have the network mess with Marlowe’s original plan for us viewers.

      • murley says:

do you really think terrorists (domestic or foreign) see delayed television shows as a win? i don’t think an episode airing a week later has a huge impact on people’s lives or really impacts our sense of normalcy and i can’t imagine the people who set this bomb feeling a sense of victory or achievement over it. i think the gesture of sympathy and respect is more valuable than trying to prove something by acting like this doesn’t affect us when it does.

        • Shaun says:

think he means the overreaction to terrorism. It’s sad but it won’t change the majority of peoples lives.Just pull on your boots and keep living to the fullest.

        • J.L. Jones says:

We are “adjusting” our lives b/c of a terrorist act. Terrorism, at its root, is meant to alter behavior. So, yes. Bumping an episode of a fictional of TV show is a ‘win’ because we are allowing ourselves to subject to behavior altering aspect. I could care less but I think we as a society need to stop being so sensitive and allow ourselves to move. Because honestly? A week doesn’t make it better. Nor would pulling the episode entirely.

    • JakeK says:

I agree that it lets the crazies win. Plus if your not ready to watch something like that then you don’t have to.

  19. Moria says:

Hmm, on the one hand, to the people actually effected by the bombs (as opposed to the ridiculous PC police who merely saw it on tv) ONE WHOLE WEEK ain’t gonna make much of a difference. Why would it suddenly be ok for them to know the show is out there a week later? it’s going to be just as upsetting. But then that’s the wacky society we live in. Outraged one week, don’t give a crap & forgot about it a week later.

On the other hand, there are some truly bizarrely obsessed & mental Castle fans out there. (Check out the TWOP forums) I find their outrage hilarious.

  20. 117 says:

Well the good thing is at Least the sneak peeks still hadn’t come out…so overall nothing Is hearts go out to all those injured during this attack…those b****** Should be caught

  21. Sal says:

Just wanted to say im appalled by those we can’t wait a week for an episode. Please show some respect for the tragedy that occurred in Boston and be thankful you are alive and okay and not suffering like those in Boston. Set your DVR to record this week’s episode and then wait to watch it after the 29th, simple as that.

    • JakeK says:

I don’t think so much that people can’t wait, I just think that they’re thinking that its gonna play eventually, it’s fictional, and it’s separate from the events.

  22. my problem with this is that it will throw of the storyline. even though STILL was the extra episode ordered, Marlowe specifically placed it before THE SQUAB AND THE QUAIL for a reason. He’s very detailed in how he has a storyline develop, so moving episodes around like this messes with how he intended the audience to see it. Personally, I’d rather have a repeat than have Marlowe’s original chronology for the story development messed with. As Lola Black stated, I may just DVR and not watch until after I see STILL so that I can watch the episodes in the intended order.

  23. mysteriousmystery says:

I don’t mean to be rude, but for those of you who are freaking out or disappointed: get a grip! So you have to wait seven whole days to see this episode. You’ll manage. This isn’t even the first time they’ve altered the original sequence of the episodes. (Were you even aware of that? Probably not is my guess.) Obviously, moving the episodes around changes nothing about the outcomes in Boston. However, I feel this is a decision made with heart and respect by ABC, both for families that are grieving for dead and injured loved ones, and a city mourning it’s shattered peace. It’s simply the decent thing to do. Be better fans than that.

    • chandler516 says:

I think out of respect for Boston ABC made the right decision to postpone the “Still” episode. I sympathize for those lives who were affected by this tragedy.

  24. Phoebe says:

I understand why they did this, but I just wish they would’ve pushed back all of the air dates. I rather wait longer to watch Still but still get to see the episodes in order.

  25. Talk about a serious episode switch, replacing one Castle ep with another (April 22nd & 29th).

  26. Eme says:

I made the mistake of turning on Glee last week when they aired an episode that dealt with a school shooting. Even though no characters were hurt in the episode, I found it really upsetting to watch. I am a teacher and Newtown really shook me. I was surprised how raw it still felt months later. I know we have the choice not to watch things that are upsetting on television. Sometimes watching helps us process feelings and sometimes turning the TV off is best. I think an audience’s reaction depends on their situation and experiences. Postponing for a week won’t heal the all the wounds, but it’s a gesture. I appreciate the gesture. Entertainment is not more important than the needs of the victims and their families.

    • JakeK says:

Almost never watch that show but I saw that one and I thought it was a great episode. I know shootings are horrible but the way that the episode was made was fantastic in the chilling, “Oh my God, I can’t believe this is happening” kind of way.

  27. Jay says:

they shoulda just had a rerun so that it wouldnt mess with the order. but then that would change the dates for the finale and would mess up their schedule so i understand.

  28. 117 says:

Yeah I don’t care one bit that they shifted it…it’s more about respecting the families and people who were a part of such a terrible incident and they deserve some respect so I’m glad ABC has done it…

  29. JakeK says:

Funny how ABC is replacing the episode a full week after the bombing while that is the date Revolution’s rescheduled episode about a nuclear device is playing.

I personally don’t mind that tv shows show violence after events like this but maybe I’m just able to separate them in my mind.

  30. A says:

Forgive me if no one sees it this way but I just don’t understand what difference a week would make. My thoughts and prayers go out the the victims of the bombing but I highly doubt that delaying airing of an episode of a TV show that just happens to have a bombing-related episode prescheduled will have any impact on what the Boston victims are going through. Will the families of the people who died or the victims that were injured in the bombing be any less upset, hurt, heartbroken, etc. a week later? I highly doubt that a week will make any difference as this incident will probably have a huge effect on their lives and a specific episode of a TV show might actually be the farthest thing from their minds

    • Marcus says:

agree. this is like FOX delaying the airing of INDEPENDENCE DAY after 9/11. Somehow they saw a movie about aliens attacking us, and then us fighting back and winning to be inappropriate.

  31. Lola Black says:

Just to be clear, I respect ABC’s choice not to air “Still” this week. I agree that it’s a respectful gesture on their part. My comments about the episode order are only to say I wish ABC would consider shifting back their finale date by a week so they could show the episodes in the intended order. I do not think this is in any way more important than what’s going on in Boston, nor do I think this is a hugely important matter in general. When I say episode order matters, I just mean it matters in the context of the show, not that it matters greatly in the grand scheme of the world. Obviously those of us who comment on articles about episodes of Castle care about the show. That doesn’t mean most of us have our priorities out of whack, it means Castle is what we came here to talk about.

    • Jay says:

i completely agree with this! it would of been better if they just did a rerun but their schedules will all be set for finale dates

    • agree… people hating on us for commenting about how it messes up the original chronology of the show are being the mean ones. just b/c we care about the show and the intended storyline arc doesn’t mean we are insensitive to what is going on in the rest of the world.

    • DoctorWhoFanatic! says:

Except for they probably need the finale to fall in May Sweeps. Durrrrr.

  32. sven johannson says:

I’ll “Still” be waiting. out of respect to the victims i truly understand, gun violence is a daily occurrence, but then again Beckett n the boyz don’t shoot too many perps. never mind i’ll be over in the corner . “Still” waiting ..

  33. Marcus says:

false respect by ABC is not real respect. to be brutally honesty people, this isn’t about showing respect, it’s about good PR.

    • A says:

Agreed, Every time I hear about networks doing this “out of resoect”, it never seemed that way to me.It always seemed like a way to make themselves look good and keep their wallets full in some way.

      • TV Gord says:

Even network executives are human beings, and comments such as these show that you’re too cynical to consider this. Sad.

        • scooby says:

Talk about naiveté. The fact that you judged others for noting what is likely the truth is what’s sad. We’ve been taught to be cynical about the motives of corporations by the corporations themselves. This isn’t about anybody being a human being. ABC waited 2 days to pull the episode. They knew that episode was coming up, they still ran the promo. It wasn’t too late to pull that. For all they knew, unfolding news would’ve pre-empted primetime coverage Monday so you’re working on the fly with all of that. Sure the executives are human beings who love puppies and kittens and butterflies, but they make decisions in that capacity to look out for the shareholders of ABC at the end of the day. They’re trying to protect the network and Castle from criticism, and they’re paid a great deal of money to do that effectively. It’s not a horrible thing, it’s their job. They’re being criticized here for being too transparent about it.

    • John says:

      Or avoiding inevitable bad PR.

    • a says:

It’s also about ratings. They figure people won’t want to watch a bomb episode this week. I suspect they won’t want to watch a bomb episode next week either. I know I won’t.

  34. Courtney says:

Technically ‘continuity’ and ‘chronology’ are two different things. Stana said chronology. Which means the episodes will be off in order. Continuity would mean they are off in storyline and that it makes a difference. I’m hoping the squab and the quill will be a lighter episode that was meant to relieve the tension after still and before the finale story line. This has happened quite a lot on castle ( think of the episode after target ).

    • Marcus says:

if that is the case, and THE SQUAD AND THE QUAIL is a “lighter” episode, then that means the finale three episodes are all going to be heavy.

  35. Jacob says:

how many people die every day from cancer, accidents, murders? Do they pull those episodes?

  36. Ella says:

Oh for the love of God. I was looking forward to this ep and now I have to wait till I get home from school to watch it. I mean I feel sorry for Boston and everything but what’s the point of even changing everything when the Bombings happend this week. And besides what’s the point of even changing things when it’s still going to be shown the week after. Besides they’ve already showed us the promo for still and its too late to change that to The Squad and The Quail. We haven’t even seen the promo for The Squad and The Quail. It would have been better if they told us the switch before hand and actually showed us what we would be looking forward too. This is absolutely useless.

I hate ABC and they’re not even doing it out respect.

FOX did the same thing with Bones after the Virginia Tech Massacre in 2007, the episode resurfaced the following season, where it didn’t fit the timeline at all. Get the feeling Castle is going to be the same case unless they A)Move the finale back a week or B)Plug the episode into a timeslot showing a re-run of some sort

  38. Rivk Katze says:

I’m from Boston and feel ABC goofed.

They gave in to the $%^& who performed this heinous act and thus gave comfort and support to them.

Better to have run the episode as scheduled and maybe add a Boston vignette instead of one advertisement.

  39. Andrea says:

While I was really looking forward to Still and I hate continuity issues, this was the right call from ABC. Even if your not bothered by the bomb concept, other will be. Look at all the negative response Glee just got. I for one can ignore continuity problems for the sake of respect. Good call ABC.

    • Lauren says:

Yes, glee got negitive responses because it was playing off a recent tragity for views basically, and was not handled well- Castle isn’t playing off and major nationinal event . This was something writened and filmed far before Monday’s events in Boston.

  40. Maria says:

Michael, you have the title written as “The Squab and the Quill.” Isn’t it “Quail”? As in a type of bird?

  41. Karen says:

abc made the right call on this whille some might not be bothed about it others will be look at glee and their negative commets I dont have a problem waiting an extra ep this is a respect goes to abc for this

  42. Nadia says:

If they cancelled Castle every time a tragic death happened then it would most likely never air. I work in a field where I see death almost everyday, but yet I still look forward to coming home and watching Castle which deals with gruesome deaths every week! Castle is a show where justice is almost always served and the good guys win, its not like they are going to make a comedy out of a bomb scenario… Oh well I’m sure a week’s time will make all the level headed people of the world completely forget what happened in Boston.

  43. Stacy says:

I always watch Castle live on Monday nights but I’m going to dvr these and watch in the correct order. I have a feeling a lot of people will do that and Castle’s ratings are going to drop. ABC should have just shown a repeat this week and pushed the finale back a week like NBC did with Revolution.

    • JAA says:

if ratings drop because more people decide to DVR the show and watch it a week later we’re punishing the hard work of Castle cast & crew

      • Stacy says:

If I had a Nielson box I’d watch live to help the ratings, but I don’t so I’d rather just watch them in order.

      • Katherine215 says:

Something like 25,000 people in the country have a Nielsen box. Odds are very slim that everyone you’ve replied to on this thread has one and will affect the ratings.

        • mo says:

Not to mention the fact that they tell you that you can’t say anything and the MAX you can keep one is two years. You can’t turn the sound down anyway – it catches that. The people with boxes know how to handle boxes and the boxes pick up on DVR watches anyway. That poster needs to CALM DOWN!!! (and, no, I don’t have one)

  44. Fernando says:

It Sucks, but makes sense and respectful. I will watch and with the beauty of DVR, I can watch it again in order next week.

  45. Mike says:

I only started watching Castle 3 months ago…sorry! Have been trying to catch up via TNT… How do you know when a show is written, what Stana tweets, storylines written by Marlowe, etc. Great Series…but I think I know how it ends, either this season or the series itself.

  46. Amy says:

I’m all for it at this point

Look at the bright side – all those people freaking out over Beckett ‘rethinking’ hers and Castle’s relationship in ‘Squab’ only have to wait four days to see that they are worrying about nothing!

Just be sure to still WATCH ‘Squab’ LIVE!!!! If people don’t watch just because they want the continuity to not be off it could kill the ratings for next week – and I would like to think that Castle fans wouldn’t want that to happen!

Watch LIVE but be conscious that there may be some continuity issues – even though ‘squab’ was written before ‘still’ they placed ‘still’ where they did FOR A REASON! Stana even said there will be continuity issues and to keep that in mind…

    • Marcus says:

watching it LIVE only effects ratings if your TV is hooked up to Nielsen box. If you are not hooked up to the Nielsen rating system, it doesn’t matter when you watch, only if you record it with your DVR.

  47. Dory says:

I live in the Northeast. (NYC). Love Boston. Vacationed on the Cape many times. I feel it was a good choice. I’m still in catch-up mode. If their are continuity issues, I can live with it. Thx for the consideration.

  48. Katya says:

When are they going to re-name this show Beckett?

  49. MLO says:

Um, so are they also going to pull all the movies currently in the theater that have explosions in them? Make all the downloads of TV shows and movies that have explosions in them unavailable? Ridiculous. Such an empty gesture when this one hour of television is merely a drop in the ocean of movies and television shows where things go boom. Show the damn episode and if people want to watch, they can. If they don’t want to watch, they won’t. I hate it when TSPTB make these kind of decisions for me.
