What to Watch Wednesday: McBrayer in The Middle, an Angel-ic CSI, Mob Psych Out and More

The MiddleOn TV this Wednesday: Jack McBrayer becomes a Middle man, an Angel alum visits CSI, Psych tries to keep the Mob out of a marriage and Rayna once more finds herself at a Nashville hospital. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 9 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm The Middle (ABC) | 30 Rock‘s Jack McBrayer guest-stars as a dentist who interviews Frankie for a potential job – too bad she gets tripped up by the “tell us a little something about yourself” question. Jim Beaver (Supernatural, Justified) also guest-stars.

8:30 pm Suburgatory (ABC) | It’s time for Ryan to choose a college. When he begs Tessa to decide for him, she rigs his decision-making process – and Dalia uses that info to her advantage. Carmen Electra (Baywatch) guest-stars as a rep from the hilariously named North Las Vegas Institute for Casino Studies.

9 pm Criminal Minds (CBS) | A 25-year-old time capsule contains a gruesome discovery. (No, not a VHS copy  of Crocodile Dundee II.) Pamela Bellwood (Dynasty) guest-stars as a local newspaper editor.

9 pm Toy Hunter (Travel) | Back-to-back Season 2 premiere: KISS frontman Gene Simmons accompanies Jordan on a hunt to pick up as much of the band’s memorabilia as possible; Jordan and Steve’s bet to see who can find the most valuable toy unearths a Six Million Dollar Man Control Center and a Fonz pinball machine.

9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | Benjamin Bratt (Private Practice) reprises his role of Manny’s dad, who ticks off Gloria when he brings his new girlfriend (played by Criminal Minds‘ Paget Brewster) along for the visit. (Watch a video sneak peek.)

  • I’ve been a bit letdown by the recent episodes of Psych. Dule’ Hill has been getting too much like Mantan Moreland [Birmingham Brown in the Charlie Chan films] and the scripts for the 100th episode and the Cirque one that followed were meh. I need some more like “Last Night Gus”.

Comment by lyn – April 10, 2013 09:23 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Really?! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this season. It reminds me of the more fun and wacky episodes they used to do back in seasons 1-3.
Plus how could anyone not look forward to Lassie’s wedding tonight?

Comment by texaslas – April 10, 2013 10:32 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I like the way they change things up, like the theme song, relationships, everything. Gus used to be like, ‘no, sean, no!’ before he was, ‘hey, we’re in sync!’, and now, well I don’t know what it is, but I’ll just enjoy it.

    • The 100th episode was far from ‘meh.’ It was brilliantly written and paid homage to the greatness that is Clue. The circus episode was hysterical, too. This has been another strong season, so I hope they keep doing what they are doing.

Toy Hunter, although not looking forward to seeing GenenSimmons ruin an episode.
The Americans and recording Southland and Psych

Comment by Heathers – April 10, 2013 10:46 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Heathers, Bomb Girls is a Canadian show about the women who manufactured munitions during World War II. It stars Meg Tilly and this week’s episode features Rosie O’Donnell as a reporter who uncovers that the women who work at the plant are making almost half of what the men are. It’s a very good show!
