Americans Ups Susan Misner to Series Regular

Get More: Casting News

The LaSalleHolland Tribeca Film Festival Party At MarqueeThe Americans has promoted Susan Misner to series regular status, effective with Season 2, which was greenlit two weeks ago.

On the FX drama, Misner plays Sandra Beeman, the wife of FBI agent Stan (played by Noah Emmerich).

Misner currently also recurs on The Following (as Kevin Bacon’s TV sister), Person of Interest (as Reese’s deceased-but-flashback-friendly girlfriend Jessica), The Good Wife (as Michael J. Fox’s Mrs.) and, imminently, ABC’s Nashville (where she’ll offer Deacon an alternative to Rayna).

She has come a long way from drowning at the Buchanans’ summer house.

What do you make of this development, my fellow Americans? Should we read anything into it?

  • Big congrats to her and I daresay a heck of a lot of Nashville fans will be very happy with this news – IF, of course, Nashville gets another season.

  • 5 episodes in and already the soapy subplots are running out of control.

Can we PLEASE have some more spying, and a bit less soapiness…. Please!

    • I’m with Silvio. It’s great to show the human elements of being a deep undercover spy, but the last thing I want to follow is the state of Stan Beeman’s relationship with his wife, no matter how great an actor Susan Misner might be. At least Episode 6, Trust Me, seemed to be mostly back on track after Episode 5 started veering into soap territory.

  • There will definitely be something fishy with her and her FBI husband. I think she too is a spy or perhaps a higher level FBI or NSA keeping tabs on her weirdo husband (something odd about him.) Like this show, still not sure what’s exactly going to happen but I like it.
