Exclusive: Tom Everett Scott Cast as Heroine's Doctor Dad in NBC's Bloodline Pilot

tom everett scottTom Everett Scott has joined NBC’s Bloodline pilot as the biological dad of protagonist Bird Benson, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The Southland alum will play Dr. Christopher Benson, a beloved ER physician at a suburban hospital who’s known for his charm and dedication to his patients. But an indiscretion years ago led to him impregnating a patient; the resulting child was Bird, the series’ teen protagonist, who’s descended from an ancient line of killers and mercenaries.

As the doc gets to know his daughter, he’ll run into trouble with her adopted father — a deadly martial arts master — and test Western medicine’s limits as he treats the injured adversaries Bird leaves in her wake.

The Kill Bill-like project follows Bird, who’s caught between two families of brigands and bad guys. In order to eventually have a normal life, she must defeat her mother via mortal combat.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King‘s Skyler Samuels will play Bird, Private Practice‘s KaDee Strickland will play her mother Stella and Breaking Bad‘s Jonathan Banks will play the patriarch of one of the families.

Scott most recently had a guest arc as software billionaire Andrew on ABC’s ill-fated GCB. He also has recurred on Sons of AnarchyLaw & Order and ER.

  • Id actually watch thus one,but as we all know it isn’t going to last more than its initial 13 episode order, and that’s if lucky, I myself don’t think it’ll last more than a handful of episodes, I mean come on nbc, will you never learn?, get a couple of csi-like procedurals so you can get strong again and then start pulling stuff like this, well that’s me, I could totally be wrong, actually I probably am, but who knows

  • He was the worst part of Southland. Glad they got rid of him. This show won’t make it past pilot stage.
