Ritter will play Gavin, a neurotic and smart good guy who’s excited about his first real date with Stacey, a co-worker from rural Pennsylvania he’s become friends with through Skype and Facebook.

The single-camera project is written by David Rosen (I Just Want My Pants Back), with Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Henry Normal and Gavin & Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones also serving as EPs.

In addition to playing Mark, jilted fiancé to Parenthood‘s Sarah, Ritter has had roles on The EventThe Class and Joan of Arcadia.

  • Please don’t screw this up FOX, Gavin and Stacey is my favorite sitcom ever. gotten off on the right foot w/ Jason Ritter as Gav but the key will be the rest of the cast like Nessa, Smithy, Stacey & Uncle Bryn

  • Hm. He should be a good fit for Gavin. I have no clue how they will cast American versions of some others, especially Nessa. Hopefully an unknown.

  • Hopefully we’ll see more of Hank then. I never cared for the Mark, they didn’t really have any chemistry.

    • Hank moved to, Minesota?, to be with his daughter. So Sarah’s single again.

Btw, I thought Jason Ritter was supposed to be in another show that came from Parenthood’s Jason Katims? What happened to that?

      • He asked her if she would move with him to his new place. And her smile kinda said yes, I thought. Who knows, but I don’t think Hank is completely out of the picture just yet.

      • That was a medical drama called “County” I believe, and the pilot was produced this time last year. NBC passed on it.

  • NBC better renew Parenthood for a fifth season soon whether or not his new TV stint gets picked up as a series for Fox.

  • Mark was too good for Sarah. No one in Parenthood ever showed him the love.
