Something wolfy this way came to True Blood last season — and now he’s not going anywhere.
Robert Patrick has been promoted to series regular in the HBO drama’s upcoming sixth season, Deadline reports. The X-Files alum guest-starred in a handful of episodes this past summer as Alcide’s wayward werewolf father Jackson Herveaux.
The actor’s True Blood status bump comes on the heels of the cancellation of ABC’s Last Resort, where he co-starred as the rogue submarine’s master chief.

• Eliza Dushku has landed the female lead in The Saint, a backdoor pilot from mega-prodcuer Brad Krevoy’s production company MPCA, Deadline reports. A fresh take on Leslie Charteris’ book franchise, the project follows modern-day Robin Hood Simon Templar (played by HawthoRNe‘s Adam Rayner) and his on-again/off-again love Patricia Holm (Dushku). Erstwhile 007 Roger Moore, who starred in the 1962 rendition of The Saint, will co-produce.
• FX has ordered a drama pilot from Homeland EPs Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff and Six Feet Under‘s Craig Wright. Titled Tyrant, the project is described as a “reverse Homeland” and centers on an unassuming American family pulled into the goings-on of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation.
• Former Today host Meredith Vieira is set to return to General Hospital on Friday, Dec. 14, TV Guide Magazine reports, reprising her role as (now) ex-madam Bree Flanders.
