Exclusive: The Neighbors Recruits Michael Bay

Action film director Michael Bay has yet another date with extraterrestrials, this time on the small screen. (Cue explosion!)

The man behind the Transformers movies will appear in an upcoming episode of ABC’s The Neighbors, TVLine has learned exclusively.

In the episode, Jami Gertz‘s Debbie will run into Bay — who’ll play himself — at a club during an adults’ night out.

No word yet on whether the appearance will include any follow-up on a Bay-related scene from earlier this season. In episode 2, as Marty peppered Larry and Jackie about how the veracity of alien flicks, he mentioned that Transformers‘ “realistic” feel makes it seem like Bay has inside intel – leading Jackie to whisper to Larry, “How does he know about Michael Bay?”

In addition to Transformers, Bay’s directing credits include Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. He’s also producing The Last Ship, a post-apocalyptic action-drama pilot for TNT.

Bay’s episode of The Neighbors is scheduled to air in early 2013.

  • I love “The Neighbors.” I’d love to hear what Larry Bird has to say about Michael Bay, if he gets the chance.
