Exclusive First Look at Fringe's Midseason Twist: Walter Unleashes a [Spoiler]!

It’s Hump Day this Friday on Fringe, as the Fox drama serves up the seventh episode of its 13-episode farewell run. To mark the occasion, Walter & Co. are bringing out the big guns in their quest to quash the Observers — and we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek.

Already this season, the team dug up one oldie-but-goodie Fringe event — the skin-growing toxin from Season 1, Episode 14 — to help their cause. Per the official logline for this Friday’s hour, titled “Five-Twenty-Ten,” “As the fight for the future intensifies, a member of the Fringe team orchestrates a Fringe event of his own.”

What exactly Walter is pulling the trigger on in this photo, I cannot say — though I can reveal that it will “greatly accelerate” their plan to take down Team Fedora. Any guesses? (Click photo to zoom.)

My guess is that it has to do with this episode that aired on 5-20-10: http://fringe.wikia.com/wiki/Over_There:_Part_2 Device to the alternate dimension perhaps?

MAJOR call back. Am watching Fringe on Amazon Prime right now and just watched the ep where Walter+Olivia+Peter go back to “Jacksonville” (name of ep as well) and he unlocks the lock on the daycare door with “5-20-10, Belly always uses the same code, i dont remember its significance”. Also at the time, i checked and realized that seasons finale was on 5-20-2010.

If this connection is on purpose (how could it not be?) these call backs to the previous seasons have been insanely good. If always planned when they brought up these little things in the first few seasons, i respect them even more.

Im just scared watching the seasons over again, that tho i don’t want it to be true, technically i think the perfect ending for the story that is Fringe is for the worlds to have never met (meaning real Peter dies, and Observers dont exist so September cant bother Walternate, so he sees the cure, cures his Peter and Walter never gets the idea to go over to save him, then keeping him The cause of all of the Fringe events and the path towards the Observer occupied future). Removing the creation (possibly?) of the Observers who later invaded from the future, considering in the latest episode the significance of having the boy Observer being a secret key to getting rid of the Observers (maybe hes the first Observer?). So once you get rid of the Observers ever existing and correct the time lines, you never get the first crack in the universes (Walter crossing over), so you never get Fringe events, you never get Observers or their occupation. The world stays normal like we experience and Fringe never happens..perfectly fixing everything.

However as a viewer that loves this show for the characters, the stories they have lived, and most of all the Love story that has saved the universe multiple times (Peter+Olivia) it cant end with Peter falling in love with our blonde Olivia which is what we want…cause Peter will be dead on our side, so it would be Alt-Peter falling in love with PhoLivia. Not satisfying enough. Also though i totally respect if they did what i said in last paragraph in terms of writing of a story. We fell in love with these characters…and to erase the past 5 seasons of story and experiences…i would be heartbroken beyond words.

I’m sorry but to be satisfied with the ending i need Blonde Olivia and our Peter alive, in love, married, hopefully Etta alive, and their memories of the past seasons intact…but i have a pain in my gut saying i am going to be disappointed, their love just seems…destined to end in one or both dying.

Need i remind you, we STILL havent met the man with the X on his shirt that Olivia says “Is the man whos going to kill me”. That could be being saved for her death in the finale or something.
