What to Watch Friday: Tim Allen and CBS' Boss Return, Reba's Back, Hurricane Telethon and More

On TV this Friday: Undercover Boss and Last Man Standing launch new seasons, Malibu Country‘s Reba doesn’t stand by her man, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together aims to help East Coast storm victims and the Fringe team has a fire in their belly. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (always linked within), here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Undercover Boss (CBS) | Season 4 premiere: Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia throws advice to the CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods, and then news from the head honcho makes one employee collapse!

8 pm America’s Next Top Model: College Edition (The CW) | The girls do a bikini photo shoot while riding dolphins, and then Tyra dresses them up as warrior princesses, sticks them under a waterfall and takes their picture. (I was going to make a Xena joke here, but frankly this blurb is ridiculous enough as is.)

8 pm Last Man Standing (ABC) | Season 2 premiere: Mike lobbies first-time voter Mandy to pull the lever for Mitt Romney, while Kristin and Boyd sing President Obama’s praises and Vanessa refuses to endorse either candidate publicly.

8:30 pm Malibu Country (ABC) | Series premiere: Reba‘s Reba McEntire returns to TV as a country-music star who leaves her philandering husband and moves her mother (TV vet Lily Tomlin) and two children to California. Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) and Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) also star.

9 pm CSI: NY (CBS) | When a woman in a ball gown is found at the bottom of a Central Park pond, the CSIs check it out. Niko Nicotera (Sons of Anarchy) and Kathleen York (The West Wing) guest-star. Right now, watch a Sandy Relief PSA from series lead Gary Sinise:

9 pm Nikita (The CW) | Nikita, Michael, Sean, Alex — one of these four takes a bullet in tonight’s episode. Log your prediction in the comments! (View photos.)

9 pm Fringe (Fox) | The fired-up Fringe team goes on the offensive, and a key member makes a shocking move. (Did you read our interview with last week’s casualty?)

9 pm Grimm (NBC) | A brutal serial killer preys on Portland’s Wesen community, which makes Nick suspect that another Grimm is in town. Meanwhile, Captain Renard offers Juliette “comfort” – oh, is that what they’re calling it these days?

10 pm Blue Bloods (CBS) | Erin arranges for Danny to protect her key witness, an infamous photographer, when he’s nearly killed in a hit-and-run; Jamie and Vinny bust a drug operation.

10 pm Hunted (Cinemax) | While investigating Jack Turner’s bid on the dam contract, Sam runs into a man from her past who might’ve been involved in the hit on her life.

  • I love Grimm but they need to move this Juliet/Renard storyline along. Its weird and kinda boring. Having the poor women be all Memory Loss Trope for so many weeks has been incredibly frustrating. This better have a purpose. For a series with a severe problem with its female characters (as in, ‘where are they’ and ‘why arent they doing anything’) it needs to step up with Juliet.
