What to Watch Friday: Welcome to Mockingbird Lane, Haunted Haven, Obama on MTV and More

On TV this Friday: Mockingbird Lane modernizes The Munsters, Haven‘s terror is coming from inside the house!, 20/20 is country strong and POTUS courts the youth vote in Ask Obama Live. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features, here are 10 programs to keep on your radar tonight.

5 pm Ask Obama Live: The MTV Interview With the President (MTV) | MTV News’ Sway Calloway sits down with President Obama at the White House to ask him questions relevant to young voters.

8 pm Mockingbird Lane (NBC) | This re-imagining of the 1960s comedy The Munsters was created as a series pilot but instead airs tonight as a Halloween special. Jerry O’Connell (The Defenders) stars as Herman, Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development) is his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard (The Riches) plays Grandpa. (Get a spooky sneak peek at the project, written by Pushing Daisies‘ Bryan Fuller and directed by X-Men‘s Bryan Singer.)

8 pm Kitchen Nightmares (Fox) | Part 1 of an all-new episode finds Chef Ramsay in Boston, where he tries to help two stubborn sisters save their North End Italian restaurant.

8 pm America’s Next Top Model: College Edition (The CW) | The girls travel to Jamaica, where they take part in a dance-off and shoot some love-triangle-themed photos while afloat on a river raft.

9 pm 20/20 (ABC) | Katie Couric interviews some of country music’s biggest stars, including Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire and Taylor Swift, in an “All Access Nashville” installment of the news journal.

9 pm CSI: NY (CBS) | Mac investigates a 20-year-old case of a missing boy (whose mom is played by Dawson’s Creek alum Meredith Monroe) when the prime suspect is found murdered on the anniversary of the boy’s disappearance.

9 pm Nikita (The CW) | Nikita, Michael and the team extract a young girl brainwashed to be a Division agent, only to lose her right as she’s about to unleash a bomb on a high-value target. The girl’s abduction, meanwhile, brings up painful memories for Alex.

PREVIEW | Exclusive Degrassi Video: Adam Is Dealt a Setback in the Milestone 300th Episode

10 pm Blue Bloods (CBS) | An undercover NYPD detective who has worked in Malaysia – and gets a medal from Frank for it — is taken hostage by a drug lord whose brother he put in prison. Michelle Hurd (The Glades) guest-stars.

10 pm Haven (Syfy) | Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210) directs a Halloween episode that traps Audrey, Nathan and Duke in a haunted house with a captor that pits them against each other. Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey) guest-stars as Roland, a man bent on vengeance against one of Haven’s own.

  • So this season Haven is building toward Audrey disappearing like she did twice before. I think that the season will end one of two ways: She will vanish and the series will end, leaving viewers and the other characters with the idea that she will return to Haven 27 years from now, or it will lead into a new and final season in which all the mysteries will be resolved and all the questions will be answered.

    One theory I have is that Haven will turn out to be like a testing ground for an organization like The Shop from Firestarter and that The Troubles will trace their origin back to something like MKUltra. Another theory is that it might link up to Randall Flagg from The Stand since his name has been in the opening credits since the first season.
