TVLine Items: Chuck Alum Replaces Lost Vet on Last Ship, Jane Fonda Joins ABC Pilot and More

Chuck vet Adam Baldwin has replaced Titus Welliver in TNT’s pilot The Last Ship.

From big-screen helmer Michael Bay, the apocalyptic pilot follows a Navy crew facing a new existence after a pandemic destroys most of Earth’s population.

As reported by Deadline, the Lost actor had to depart the project rather suddenly due to a family emergency. Baldwin — who recently guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU — will now portray Mike Slattery, second in command to Eric Dane’s Captain Tom Chandler. If The Last Ship does go to series, the cabler will likely find a spot in the cast for Welliver.

• Jane Fonda has been tapped to star in Now What?, a single-camera comedy pilot for ABC. Per Variety, the project centers on a mother (Fonda) and daughter who move in together after the latter publicly criticizes the matriarch in a blog.

        • @John – LOL! Well said. Astonishing that people can’t distinguish between actors and the characters they play.

  • It’s just a pilot. So probably not for a while, assuming it hasn’t been picked up yet.

  • I was going to watch because Welliver was in the show… Now I suddenly have a mysterious loss of interest. Wonder why.

  • First of all hope Titus Welliver’s family is doing ok. Family comes first!! I wish them well.
Second Adam Baldwin is a welcome addition to any show.
Third Jane Fonda is NOT a welcome addition to any cast in my opinion.
