Tim Meadows Paula NewsomeCount Tim Meadows as the latest Saturday Night Live vet to call Suburgatory‘s Chatswin home.

TVLine has learned that Meadows has booked a multi-episode role on the sophomore ABC comedy as the father of Tessa’s friend Malik (Maestro Harrell). His character, Edmond, is described as “the strong patriarch of a close-knit family,” someone who moved his brood to Chatswin for the schools, not the people. Edmond is proud of his recipe for turkey meatballs (yummm) and blames himself for the childhood death of his younger brother (um, OK). He’ll first appear in Episode 7.

  • Wasn’t there a report last year that Erika Alexander was filming a season 1 ep as Malik’s mom? I noticed it didn’t happen, I wondered if it was cut after filming. But strange. Also why hasn’t Maestro Harrell been made a regular?

  • I like the show, but I find Ana Gasteyer really annoying (and not just because her character is supposed to be). I saw Molly Shannon in some movie recently, and I really wish she were playing Gasteyer’s part on Suburbia.

  • I really like Paula Newsome. She appeared in one of the all time funniest episodes of “New Adventures of Old Christine”: “Hair” the one about Richie having lice. I bust a gut every time I see it. Paula’s reactions are priceless!
