Emma BellFallen Walking Dead alum Emma Bell is being resurrected on Dallas.

Bell has nabbed one of two new series regular roles on Season 2 of the TNT drama, TVLine has learned.

The actress will play Emma, a classic beauty who has enjoyed a privileged upbringing full of travel since she was a toddler. She was raised by her grandmother to be poised, graceful, and slightly aloof, while her father has ingrained in her a distrust of the larger world. If those clues ring any bells it might be because Emma is rumored to be the estranged daughter of Brenda Strong’s character, Ann Ewing.

Bell — whose other credits include guest spots on CSI: Miami, Supernatural and Dollhouse — will first appear in the Season 2 premiere, slated to air in 2013.

Dallas fans, can you see a family resemblance between Bell and Strong? And does daddy sound like Mitch Pileggi’s dastardly Harris Ryland?

  • I actually think Christopher is Ann’s son

    • I know Dallas is a soap, and therefore anything’s possible, but that really doesn’t make a lot of sense considering that they seem to be respecting original Dallas pretty well, and we know Christopher’s back story from before his birth. How do you figure him being Ann’s son would work?

Now, on the other hand, there’s plenty of room to make Christopher JR’s son, which would raise some really interesting and fun issues all over the place.

      • Ever since the original series I’ve been convinced that Christopher is JR’s son. I’m just surprised that no one has figured it out yet.
Wouldn’t that throw a wrench in the already twisted John Ross/Christopher relationship?

        • It was established that Christopher is NOT JRs son. Kristin WAS pregnant with his child when she shot him, however after she was run out of town, she lost that baby and got preggo again–with Christopher. Besides don’t you think Bobby and Pam would have had that checked out before they adopted him.

          • I remember that they checked it out to the point they were satisfied he wasn’t JR’s. But you have to remember that the character was born in 1981, before DNA testing as we know it today. Add to that the soap standard of never being able to trust a paternity test, and I think they have plenty of wiggle room — both for Christopher’s paternity and John Ross’.

    • Christopher, Ann’s son?!?! Have you not seen any of the original series?! Christopher’s biological mother is Kristin Shepherd (Mary Crosby), Sue Ellen’s sister & better know for shooting JR!! …

    • The creator has already said that Ann’s daughter is named Emma so it’s pretty clear this is Ann’s daughter. They had actually shot the reveal in the finale but chose to cut it because she said the reveal didn’t feel earned.

  • With the title of this article and the pic, my first thought was that this character would be related to April!
Ray should have a kid or two, though.

  • If Emma is Ann’s estranged daughter there’s a good possibility she could be Cliff’s daughter as well. Brenda Strong was on the original show as Cliff’s one night stand after all. Would give Rebecca an interesting foe to deal with when she’s not making Christopher’s life a living hell.

  • Your theory makese sense, especially since Mitch pileggi has been upgraded In terms of his status and role. I can’t wait for this to start up again!!!

  • Christopher is Jeff Faraday’s son. Faraday sold Christopher to Bobby under the false pretense that JR was his father. Kristin, Christopher’s mommy, not only told JR that she had given birth to his son, she blackmailed other Dallas businessmen into believing she had their child. The show proved that Chris was, in fact, Faraday’s. Going back on that and saying that he is JRs would truly alienate the ‘Forkies’ who propelled the new show to its decent ratings

  • I’m completely hooked on the new series. Since I was pretty young when the original series was on I didn’t remember much of it so I am watching the old seasons to get caught up. I can’t wait until the series premiere.

    • I miss Bobby and Pam. How I wish Victoria Principal had returned as Pam. Ann just doesn’t suit Bobby. Pam was so warm and vital and Ann seems cold and distant. I simply do not like the character at all.
