30 Rock Casts Bryan Cranston and Catherine O'Hara as Kenneth's [Spoilers]!

What’s even better than a Saturday night at the chuckle hut? Finding out that 30 Rock’s Kenneth is the son of an obsessive doggie mom who’s dating a ruthless drug kingpin. (Kinda.)

This season, Best in Show’s Catherine O’Hara will show up on the NBC comedy as the earnest page’s backcountry mama, and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston will be her “friend,” Ron.

Their exact air dates have yet to be determined, TVGuide.com reports.

The site also reports that Jack McBrayer’s cornpone character will spend part of the sitcom’s seventh and final season in an innocent romantic relationship with Kristen Schaal’s Hazel.

In addition to stealing the show in several Christopher Guest films, O’Hara’s TV credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm and Six Feet Under. And Cranston, who is nearing the end of his five-season (d)evolution as Breaking Bad’s Walter White, recently directed an episode of The Office’s upcoming Season 9.

  • “in a deleted scene of “The One with the Cast of Night Court”, Kenneth tells Tracy that his parents were first cousins (something which Kenneth’s father never revealed to Kenneth’s mother, as his father knew that if she knew of their relation, she would have not married him);[16] however, contrary to this, in “Grandmentor”, he tells Hazel Wasshername that his parents were “technically brothers” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Parcell yikes

    • I feel like when Kenneth uses words like “technically” we’re dealing with some bizarre aspect of his religion which I’m sure encompasses cousin-brothership in detail. If they wanted to get that fact checky with the show…

    • But Ron isnt Kenneth’s father, he’s his mom’s “friend”.

  • But isn’t Kenneth, like, immortal? There better be allusions to his mother being immortal too, they can’t just ignore all those previous gags.

  • Perfect casting. They could just stare dumbly at the camera and I’d be laughing.

    • I could totaly see Christina Applegate as Catherine O’Hara’s daughter and Kenneth’s sister

  • She was also in Home Alone! Can’t forget that in her list of credits.

  • Catherine O’Hara back on TV is a reason to celebrate. I would watch anything she did. She is one of the most under-rated comic performers out there.

  • My Roommate has been watching Breaking Bad since season 1 and she JUST found out this week that he was the dad in Malcolm in the Middle. Her mind was blown.
I want to see Cranston in funny roles again too. He is such an awesome actor.

  • I would rather watch an entire series of these three characters than any Dwight Schrute spinoff.

  • I’d prefer these characters have remained off-screen for the entirety of the show. That said, Catherine O’Hara is DEFINITELY an upgrade from Paula Deen!

  • Seriously though, what else could the end of that sentence have BEEN?! The spoiler notice was redundant…
