Community Exclusive: Matt Lucas' Character Revealed, Will Play Abed's [Spoiler]

Matt Lucas CommunityDetails have finally surfaced about the role Little Britain‘s Matt Lucas will be playing on Community, and I have a hunch Troy will not be pleased.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Lucas’ character, Toby, is a fanboy whom Abed meets at an Inspector Spacetime convention. Now here’s the part that’s going to really rankle Abed’s current BFF and soul mate: Abed and Toby will quickly discover that not only are they kindred spirits, but they’ve “met” before online.

Ladies and gents, we’ve got ourselves another Community love triangle!

Lucas, who is probably best known to American audiences as one of Kristen Wiig’s roommates in Bridesmaids, is slated to make his Community debut early into the show’s fourth season, which premieres Friday, Oct. 19.

Did you fall in love with the word ‘whom’ today

    • Brian says:

Did you fall out of love with using a question mark at the end of a question today?

Also, what does this comment even mean? He only used “whom” once, and it’s not like it’s some exotic word. It’s a relative pronoun and the only one that could fit in that sentence. How the hell else was he supposed to write it?

    • Britta Unfiltered says:

How could anyone not be in love with the word “whom”? It’s a pretty, poetic word. I love seeing it used.

  2. Annie says:

Every time I see Matt Lucas I can’t help but start humming “Master of the House” from Les Mis since he played Thenardier in the 25th Anniversary concert.

  3. Artemis says:

    Nooooo! Troy and Abed!

By which I mean, this could be hilarious. If NBC’s new lackeys don’t muck it up.

  4. Britta Unfiltered says:

So they really are going through with the Inspector Spacetime Convention. Awesome. Can’t remember where I first heard of that as an idea for an episode. Maybe it was here. Or maybe it was on the DVD commentaries for other seasons of the show.

  5. Angela says:

Hmmmm. That sounds intriguing. I found the tension between Troy and Abed really interesting last season, so how that’ll play out this time around, who knows. Hopefully this guy won’t break up the best friends!

  6. Darryl says:

    Who’s Toby?

  8. matt386 says:

Looks instead trying to have good writing, they’re just going to have stupid cameos by non-famous people. What a sad way for the show to die out.

  9. LunaSkya says:

Matt386 – just because you don’t know him, doesn’t mean he is non-famous.

  10. BucketHat says:

Best known to American audiences from Bridesmaids?
I can understand it not being Little Britain, or even Little Britain USA… But I’d assume more people would know him from Alice in Wonderland.

Then again, I don’t think I know anyone who watched Bridesmaids.

  11. Kristin says:

    Dang, you people are crabby.

  12. lilian says:

uuuh troy and abed. i’m weirdly interested.

  13. DeanPelDom says:

    Troy and Abed having problems!

  14. kara says:

That will mess up the equalibrium of this great show
