Arrested Development Exclusive: Mad Men's John Slattery Joins Season 4 Cast in Top-Secret Role

John Slattery Arrested Development Season 4Even on LSD, Roger Sterling probably couldn’t have envisioned this: John Slattery is joining the cast of Arrested Development.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the Mad Men actor will appear in multiple episodes of the cult comedy’s upcoming 10-episode Netflix resurrection.

But who is he playing?! That’s the $1 million question. A rep for the show declined to comment, which leaves us no other choice but to speculate. Is he a long-lost Bluth relative? Lindsay’s new side dish? (Hit the comments with your own theories.)

In an interview with MTV.com, AD exec producer Ron Howard indicated that several new characters would be introduced, although he declined to provide specifics. “[Series creator] Mitch [Hurwitz] isn’t trying to recreate something,” Howard told the site. “It’s been away for a while, and part of the fun that Mitch has been mining and exploiting is, what’s new to discover about these people? What’s delightfully unchanged? He and the writing staff and the actors have a fantastic sense of that. They’re pretty brazen, pretty bold and fearless. That’s what made the show into something that fans really kept alive.”

As previously reported, all 10 new Season 4 episodes of Arrested Development will be released at once, sometime next year on Netflix.

    This is the best.

  4. Britta Unfiltered says:

I’m so excited, I just blue….well, you know. I think he’ll be great on the show. I predict he’ll be Lucille’s new arm candy.

    • IJustBlueMyself says:

      But which Lucille?!?! :)

I think you’re probably right. Can wait to see Slattery in Sudden Vlley. Great casting choice.

  5. David says:

That’s awesome. I’ve always liked him on Mad Men. He looks like he could easily be Will Arnett’s dad. So maybe it’s revealed that GOB isn’t George Sr.’s biological son.

Think about it… Oscar is Buster’s real father and Lindsay is adopted. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Michael was George Sr.’s only biological child? Or if NONE of the children were his? I could totally see John Slattery being the sleazy, clueless, amateur-magician father of GOB.

  6. TV Gord says:

To paraphrase Buffy Summers, “A world of ‘YES'”!!!

  7. lana says:

    Yes! Awesome!

  8. Brian says:

Please let him be playing a magician.

  9. Andrew Rizzo says:

He should play essentially the same character as he does on Mad Men. Maybe it’s just me, but I think that’d be hilarious. Then again, John Slattery is just awesome.

  10. murley says:

    Future GOB.

  11. J says:

    Stan Sitwell’s hairier brother?

  12. CJ says:

I’m not even sure how to respond to this, as it is possibly the most exciting news that I have ever heard ever.

  13. Dominica says:

    Solid as Iraq

  14. Martin Cruz says:

Next year can’t come soon enough. We need more GOB!

  15. erielhonan says:

I hope he revives his Steve Austin character from 30 Rock for AD!

It’s like a threesome, with two of my favorite T.V. shows.
