New Girl Season 2 Scoop: Can Justified's Raymond Barry Possibly Be Nick's [Spoiler]?

New Girl’s Nick has seen the future, and it ain’t pretty.

In the Fox comedy’s upcoming Season 2, Justified’s Raymond Barry will guest-star as Older Nick, a very old, very drunk man who hangs out at Nick’s bar and claims to be Nick — from the future.

Nick (played by Jake Johnson) can’t possibly fall for the sot’s time-traveling claims, can he? Maybe it’ll make a difference when the older man – who bears a striking resemblance to the law-school dropout — knows everything that’s going to happen to him in the coming years. (And after Nick’s Season 1 finale freak-out about moving in with Caroline, just the latest event in his sad-sack love life, we’d bet you a beer that his version of events isn’t rosy.) Perhaps the strange encounter will be just the thing to get Nick moving in Jess’ direction…

In addition to playing Justified’s Arlo, Barry’s long list of TV credits includes Cold Case, The Closer and Lost. He also portrayed Capt. Lou Jacobs in the Denzel Washington-Ethan Hawke cop drama Training Day.

New Girl returns to Fox Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c and 9/8c.

  • I…..huh. I can’t picture that. But I’m so used to just knowing him as Arlo with that Southern drawl. I can’t even think who he would have played in Lost and Training Day, and I’ve seen those.
