Pilot Scoop: Ryan Reynolds to Captain Titanic-Themed Animated Comedy For Fox
Fox is getting into bed with Ryan Reynolds.
The network has placed script orders for a pair of comedy pilots — one animated, one live-action — produced by the A-lister via his 20th Century Fox-based DarkFire shingle, TVLine has learned.
The animated project — titled Lowe Rollers and from writers Mark Torgove, Paul Kaplan and Ash Brannon — follows a family as it tries to maintain a semblance of civility while struggling to run a sinking Titanic-themed casino in the heart of Sin City.
Meanwhile, the untitled live-action offering, from writers Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, centers on a disgraced hotel-industry hotshot who is exiled to a lower-rung airport hotel and forced to manage an oddball staff in his quest to will the hotel (and his life) to four-star greatness.
Both projects are exec produced by Reynolds, Matt Manfredi, Phil Hay, Jonathon Komack Martin, Allan Loeb and Steven Pearl.
Last August, Reynolds solid a pilot presentation to Fox for an animated series about an ordinary kid with several prodigy children titled And Then There Was Gordon. The project was ultimately not ordered to series.
