Jepsen will perform a to-be-determined song off her new album in the show’s Season 5 opener, which is scheduled to air on Monday, Oct. 8. In the episode, Jepsen is the headliner at Adrianna’s Las Vegas premiere, which is interrupted when news gets out about Dixon’s car accident.

Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” track, which just spent its fourth consecutive week perched atop Billboard‘s Hot 100 singles chart, has become a pop culture phenomenon, inspiring a slew of YouTube-friendly homages and remixes.

“We fell in love with her song when we first heard it, and used it in last season’s finale before it was a national sensation,” said 90210 exec producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen in a joint statement to TVLine. “We think she’s an exciting artist and are thrilled to be able to have her music on the show again, this time in a live performance in our season premiere.”

    Stunt casting much?

    • Captain says:

They did this all last season. In like every other episode they had some musical performer. It’s basically the only way they can get anyone to watch anymore.

      • Peeta says:

Even if they book Justin Bieber or 1Direction, 90210 won’t get any viewers back. Even its fans are done with the show. The new showrunners screwed up the season, and The CW must be afraid, because Mondays may hit all-time lows this fall.

  2. Dyra says:

    I love her!

  3. eyebzz says:

Can’t they just DROP the musical-related-storylines on 90210?!

  4. Steffy says:

I like 90210’s music storylines, I just want that and more other types of stories. Don’t just focus on that type. Yay for Carly!

  5. Ally says:

I remember her from Canadian Idol. I think she placed third or something the year Jaydee Bixby got runner up. I can’t remember who actually won. She was pretty bubbly if I recall.
