NCIS Upgrades Brian Dietzen to Series Regular for Season 10: 'I Couldn't Be Happier'

Brian Dietzen NCIS ContractJimmy Palmer’s workload is about to increase on NCIS.

Brian Dietzen, who for years has recurred as medical examiner Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard’s right-hand man, has been promoted to series regular status on TV’s most-watched drama, EW.com reports.

Although Ducky shall live to see another day, his apparent heart attack in last month’s season finale would suggest that Palmer’s responsibilities at the office are bound to grow in Season 10 — something that pleases Dietzen greatly.

“I’m very excited,” the actor tells EW.com. “After eight years of being with the show, I got a contract with CBS, and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray (aka Tony, Abby and McGee) all have yet to re-up for Season 10, though showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine he has “no doubt that it will all work out.”
