TVLine Items: Walking Dead-athon Debuts B&W Episode, AMC Alum to Army Wives and More

AMC will marathon all 19 episodes of The Walking Dead‘s first two seasons the weekend of July 8, leading up to a special edition of Talking Dead and a never-before-broadcast black-and-white conversion of the series pilot.

The Dead-athon kicks off Saturday, July 8 at 11:30am EST, running to 1 am that night. The action picks back up Sunday at 11:30 am, leading into the 9 o’clock Talking Dead special and then the 10 pm showing of the B&W series opener.

The marathon event will also be laden with behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews, and maybe a peek or two at Season 3, premiering this fall.

The black and white version of the pilot episode was available on the dvd release. Hardly qualifies as ‘never before seen’… just saying.

    • John Berggren says:

Never before seen on AMC (broadcast premiere)

      • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Fixed; I’m not a DVD person.

        • John Berggren says:

          You should be a blu-ray person :).
It’s a great way to keep up with shows you don’t have time to watch the first time around… but then if I were paid to keep up with shows, I might be able to do it better.

          • KevyB says:

And DVD isn’t a way to do that? Anyhow this idea is LAME! B/W movies work because they were meant to be filmed that way. B/Wing this doesn’t suddenly make it Night of the Living Dead. While they are at it, they should limit access to Season 2, especially not one show right after the other. All the stupidity becomes even more obvious!

          • John Berggren says:

Separate comments. Blu-ray is great (one comment) home media is a great way to keep up with shows (another) of course blu-ray is better because it’s -you know- high def.

            And season two was great.

          • John Berggren says:

Also – as I understand, they wanted to make it in b&w but AMC balked. It makes perfect sense for this version to exist.

  2. So excited to see JR Martinez on Army Wives! He’ll be a great addition to that cast.

  3. Emma Stone on iCarly!? Dream come true!

  4. Simone says:

“The Dead-athon kicks off Saturday, July 8 at 11:30am EST, running to 1 am that night.”

wait, what? July 8 is a Sunday – did you mean July 7?

  5. Lyrich Belle says:

Ugh this reall y sucks cuz I’m going away ON the 8th and I wanna see season 2! Just watched season 1 on Netflix and I’m hooked!

  6. Priscilla says:

Is AMC going to run another marathon for season 2?
