Robert Patrick Last ResortGood news for the crew of the USS Colorado: Their master chief isn't bailing after the premiere.

ABC's new thriller Last Resort has formally upgraded Robert Patrick, who plays the submarine's MC Joseph Prosser, to a series regular, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The X-Files vet initially signed on as a guest star in the pilot.

The Shawn Ryan-produced Resort, which will air Thursdays at 8/7c this fall, is set in the not-so-distant future and follows the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become fugitives after refusing to fire their missiles. Ultimately, they make camp on an island that hosts a NATO listening station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation.

The cast includes Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Dichen Lachman and Autumn Reeser.
