TVLine Items: Hot New True Blood and Dexter Promos, Homeland Spies Lost Alumna and More!

Russell Edgington is back!

In anticipation of True Blood‘s fifth season (premiering June 10), HBO has hit us with another scoop-filled promo — and this one comes with tons of new footage of the deposed King of Mississippi. Press PLAY below to watch the smokin’ hot trailer.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• Showtime has just released its first teaser trailer for Dexter‘s seventh season, and it’s as vague as it is creepy. “Maybe everything is exactly as it should be,” muses the serial killer via voiceover. What does he mean?! Guess we’ll find out Sept. 30 when the drama returns.

• Lost alumna Zuleikha Robinson has booked a major recurring role in Season 2 of Homeland, Deadline reports. She’s been cast as a field journalist with ties to terrorist Abu Nazir.

• CBS’ most recent Jesse Stone TV movie, Benefit of the Doubt, was its last. Producer Michael Brandman tells Variety that the Eye Network has informed him that they will not be ordering any more of the Tom Selleck-starring flicks. It’s unknown whether the franchise will be shopped around elsewhere.

• James Frain (True Blood) will recur in Season 2 of Grimm, Zap2it reports. He’ll play Sean Renard’s (Sasha Roiz) brother.

• Wanda de Jesus (All My Children, CSI: Miami) will guest-star in the upcoming season of Sons of Anarchy. Per Deadline, she’ll play a “smart and sexy” associate of Jimmy Smits’ Nero. Fun fact: De Jesus and Smits are a couple in real life.

• Cougar Town has found its new showrunner. Gary Unmarried and 8 Simple Rules vet Ric Swartzlander will helm the comedy’s upcoming fourth season (which will air on TBS), taking over the reins from co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel.

Why are Lawerence and Biegel leaving?

    • Alan says:

it was part of the contract that they would leave after 3 years to make another show for abc i believe

      • I thought they’d signed an exclusive development deal with them, so are contractually forbidden from working on another network.

        • jroche says:

Cheers for the info, I spose the move to Tbs would affect that. and its not a big deal. Just thought it was another dan harmon/community thing.

  2. Mik says:

Yay for Zuleikha coming to Homeland. Looking forward to that :)

  3. Tran says:

Scared to death about the teaser for Dexter Season Seven.

  4. Kristina says:

Can’t wait to see James Frain on TV again!!

  5. JT says:

Unfortunately, I watched the recent Jesse Stone telemovie and what a meandering mess it was. Not to mention an unmitigated bore. They strayed too far from the great character created by Robert B. Parker.

  6. Jarrod says:

So no Tara in the TB promo. Does this mean she is dead? I sure hope not.

    • Amanda From Michigan says:

I don’t know for sure, but I’m thinking that having lots of vampires who come running will be good for Tara.

    • amanda says:

why the f*ck would they show tara in the promo if she is alive… that would ruin ‘the suprise’

  7. jroche says:

Speaking of Bill Lawrence, what about his Fox pilot ? I know it wasn’t picked up for September but is there any news on it airing Midseason?

    • digitalred93 says:

Same question here. I was bummed when the show wasn’t picked up. Had highly anticipated the opportunity to see Bill Lawrence and Colin Ferguson working together.

  8. That preview makes me want to say “True Blood! True Blood! True Blood!”

  9. William says:

Cannot wait for Dexter to come back
