What to Watch: The TVLine-Up for Sunday

On TV this Sunday: The Indy 500 unleashes some very hot wheels, Harry’s Law argues its final case, Mad Men‘s Peggy feels trippy, one of HBO’s Girls learns a secret about her beau and more. In addition to the specials and marathons listed in our Memorial Day Weekend guide, here are eight programs to consider.

Noon Indianapolis 500 (ABC) | The 96th running promises to be the hottest one ever — literally, with temperatures expected to hit a high of 95. Use the A/C liberally, drivers. What?

8 pm Harry’s Law (NBC) | Series finale: When Harry’s ex-husband is found dead with no one to claim the body, she is burdened with planning the funeral, which to her surprise stirs up more emotion than she anticipated.

9 pm Game of Thrones (HBO) | Tyrion and the Lannisters fight for their lives as Stannis’ fleet assaults King’s Landing.

9 pm Mermaids: The Body Found (Animal Planet) | In this tongue-in-cheeky Monster Week “exposé,” testimony from “rogue” government scientists — coupled with computer animation, “eyewitness” video and photographic “evidence” — suggest the existence of a never-before-identified sea creature with ties to humans. Some of them even have dancing/singing crab friends!

9 pm Food Network Star (Food Network) |  If only because the network has been running clips from my and Ausiello’s years-ago stint as “judges” (Guy Fieri makes a damn tasty fishbowl drink), I’ll give a shout-out to tonight’s Chopped-themed challenge.

9 pm The Good Wife (CBS) | Didja miss seeing Lisa Edelstein in that other TV show’s series finale? Catch her here in a repeat of her first of three TGW visits.

VIDEO | Spoiler Alert! Talks Mad Men Controversy, The Killing, Girls and More!

10 pm Mad Men (AMC) | Don is challenged by a pitch! Peggy contemplates a trip!

10:30 pm Girls (HBO) | At the “best party ever” in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Hannah learns Adam’s main defining trait, Marnie is beside herself after seeing Charlie, Jessa teases a mystery texter, and Ray becomes Shoshanna’s spirit guide.

Which of the above is must-see for you? Also, hit Comments to offer your own tune-in suggestions.

    • What to Watch has been very generous to THE KILLING in recent weeks; maybe it’ll make the cut next Sunday. Cross fingers.

    • If you drifted away from Harry’s Law in season two, you should come back for this one. One of the benefits of being Canadian is that we got to see this episode of Friday. Nice. Especially if you’re a Tom Waits fan. ;-)

    • I’m just going to watch Game of Thrones five times and watch the others later in the week.

This is THE episode. The one with an actual battle. The one where most of the budget went to,

  • R.I.P. HARRY’S LAW. You’ll be missed. I loved that show. Still can’t believe that NBC canceled it and gave something like the ROCK CENTER a place in it’s fall line-up.

Comment by Daniela – May 27, 2012 03:54 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I’ll miss Harry’s Law, too, but it’s a shame you haven’t given Rock Center a chance. It’s a fantastic show.

  • NBC should re-think not having Harry’s Laws back. The show is worth another shot, this season was really good!

  • I wonder when REVENGE will start taking DH’s time slot. Shouldn’t it be running the reruns in that time slot over the summer, preceded by a big promo push?

  • I’ll be watching the premiere of “Continuum” on showcase Canada then The Killing. woohoo!

    • Right?!? I came back to read a recap and there isn’t one. Come on.. What kind of TV site doesn’t have a recap of the greatest ep of Game of Thrones ever?

Comment by Esme – May 28, 2012 05:45 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Peggy contemplates taking a trip indeed. Umm, TVLine, I’m going to need more information about what’s going on with that now that I’ve seen the episode. Our dear feminist Peggy isn’t gone for good, is she?
    .
Also, I freaking love how you guys advertise Mad Men in your What to Watch articles with the exciting explanation points for their nondescript episode information. It’s funny how stingy Matt Weiner is with his spoilers, and it’s hilarious how you make fun of it a little. :) No disrespect towards Mad Men intended on my part or your part, I’m sure.
