        • I seem to recall hearing that many Bones fans are from foreign countries so perhaps our American humor is lost in translation? That’s my bet.

          • I’m from a foreign country, not another planet! LOL
Believe the auto irony is pretty clear here ;)

          • Don’t flatter the American humour, it is not that complicated.
Also, there are just plain people with no sense of humour at all, in all countries. As well as just straight up horrible jokes that are just not funny (not this trailer, though, that one is adorable, with all the meta irony and supernarrative distortion).

          • Wow – american humor can be tricky as brain surgery, I guess – sometimes the rumours about american audience are true…

  • Wow…. This is bad…. I know it is supposed to be a Hollywood version of the book, but it just seems that HH and Co. don’t know what is funny or dramatic anymore.

    • They did a really bad spoof of Brennan’s book. If you don’t get it, you’re either close minded or an idiot.

Comment by Melissa – May 4, 2012 02:49 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • No I get it. It is a spoof, but it is an unfunny spoof.

Bones used to be a show with witty humor and episodes that were above and beyond the procedural genre, You might be willing to accept the mediocrity the show has fallen into the last couple of seasons, but I do not, I fell in love with a show that produced episodes such as “Judas on a Pole”. “The Graft in the Girl”, and “Aliens in a Spaceship”, What I want is for the show to live up to the promise that it showed on its first four seasons,

When one considers what the show is doing now as acceptable, then one can not help but feel sadden about the course of the show.. This attempt at humor just shows how far it has fallen.

            Good for you.

Comment by Narf – May 4, 2012 10:42 PM PDT
          • @Eridapo – What you fail to realized is every show goes through growing pains and missteps; and taking chances that do not pan out. A true lover of Bones (or any show that you have spent 5 years watching) would accept this and give them a chance to get back on track. Frankly, you won’t be missed with that attitude!

BTW – you not liking the spoof is bad on you. Obviously enjoying cheesy parody is lost on you who is of such lofty thoughts. I (part of the masses) thought it was hi-larious! :)

Comment by meleliot – May 5, 2012 06:20 AM PDT
        • @Eridapo Just because you think that Bone sucks doesn’t mean that everyone else does. Many people still love Bones…and they are still holding their own against 2 huge reality shows and comedy. Not many other shows can do that.

Comment by Jillian – May 5, 2012 10:47 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • @meleliot

I did give the show the time to get back to what it once was. I experienced the nightmare that was season 6 with Blondie and the one night stand pregnancy, and I saw the first 3 episodes of this season. What I realized was that the show that I fell in love with was never coming back, and it was replaced with this parody that still calls itself Bones. The actors are the same, but Booth and Brennan are not.

I understand the characters are supposed to grow as a show evolves, but in Bones’ case they regressed. Character and story continuity were sacrificed for the sake of the frat house humor that is now prevalent. Where are the cases that drew you in? What was once a strong female role model has been lost, and the Brennan we most often see now days is robotic and clingy. Booth who was at one time a wounded character with a heart of a lion is now short temper and snide to friends and even at Brennan.

Comment by eridapo – May 5, 2012 12:21 PM PDT
          • @Eridapo – you do have a point, Booth, Brennan all the characters have changed. They were all a new unit at the beginning where they were polite and reserved with each other, not daring to make a joke a little on the “blue” side, or snark at each other. Now they are comfortable and don’t get offended by someone elses ill-temper, personal dig, etc., The saying “familiarity breeds contempt” is a saying for a reasong. Brennan has changed the most as she has been exposed to Angela, who has softened her considerably; she has learned to work a little earier with others, and she fell in love with Booth, which does change a person, whether you like the change or not. I still think Brennan is a great character. I do agree with you on this: the first seasons’ stories were pretty fantastic.

Comment by meleliot – May 5, 2012 01:47 PM PDT
          • Yes, you have your reasons, Eridapo, for how you now feel about Bones — as does everyone who watches or no longer watches.
But … why do you keep telling us how you feel over and over?
Start a “Wake for the Bones Show That Was” blog and wail away with your fellow wailers.
I’m still a fan and still ready to party when they do what they can do well.

Comment by Sandra – May 4, 2012 12:52 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • Yeah I DO get the concept, my comment was neither positive or negative, just making the statement that it is a cheesefest with a little confused emoticon to display my mixed feelings about it. I think you’re the one that needs to relax, for getting so bent out of shape over a blasé and ambiguous comment. I actually like cheesiness if it’s done correctly. I’m not convinced this was the right amount of cheese or if it was perhaps just a tad over the top.

Since then I’ve been able to think four-dimensionally. ;-)

  • It is so interesting to read so many different takes on this. It really is a georgous and outrageous spoof. I do agree though that we do need to return to more challenging and nail biting cases.for the next season. This season I think has been light because of having to deal with Emily’s real life pregnancy and setting out Booth and Brennan’s personal relationship. This is now established and in my opinion, has been carried out very successfully. Therefore we need to get back to the crime and punishment angle, which is of course why we all started watching the show in the first place. Step it up writers dazzle and excite us again with your brilliance.

  • I’ll be honest, it has been a couple seasons since I have watched Bones faithfully, not because of the writing or the storylines, just life getting in the way. I catch an occasional episode when I can, but out of order I feel a little lost. However, seeing this spoof trailer has me wanting to watch Bones again. To see how far they have come since I left them and to see the events that have led up to this. I remember with The X-Files did a similar spoof (Hollywood A.D.) and though the episode by no means was the best, it was still an entertaining and enjoyable episode. I hope no one blasts me for my opinion or my sporadic loyalty to the show, but this spoof did what it was supposed to do. It peaked my interest and if even for a day, brought one more viewer to the time slot.

  • For those of you who complain about charactors changing you’re idiots because people evolve and charactors are going to change through the years and if they didn’t it would be a bad show in which it is a great show because they make the charactors grow–and by the way–this episode is supposed to be a cheesefest and corny and all that because it’s a meta episode–it’s not meant to be serious or lightly humorous, this episode is going to be loads of fun and humor like the one when they were all in the funeral home in I think season 4, don’t quote me. that was over the top too but it was hilarious. Besides, it’s supposed to be teasing hollywood and if you have a problem with some old fashion, over the top humor then maybe you didn’t like the show to begin with because this show has always had episodes that were over the top–Not every episode has always been dramatic or slightly funny–besides, I think this show has even gotten better this season and that seems impossible because I really liked season six–It was one of the best acted seasons of the series. This season is perfect and people are getting what I thought people wanted–B&B are together–With a child no less. This season is epic. Although I’m a bit nervous for what they’re going to do in the finale with all of david’s tweets. Not that I think he’s leaving the show because obviously the show would be done then but bones always does something different in their finales. Another reason I’ve always respected this show..they take chances that most other shows don’t. the only other show that I believe took these sort of chances ended this year (One Tree Hill)

  • Yeah… I’m probably going to get yelled at for this, but I really don’t care, this looks like it’s going to suck. Not the spoof movie, the entire episode. I don’t know, I’ve missed a lot of this season and this trailer doesn’t make me want to start watching it again.

I started to watch this show because it was a fun show that was still smart with some fantastic dramatic storylines. It was the only show I watch that has its main character buried alive. But then it hit the season four slump (and I greatly disliked how every single episode ended with such an easy confession) and it hasn’t recovered.

Quite honestly, if the show ended this season, I really wouldn’t care.

    • Not going to yell. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I disagree with yours, but that’s cool. That said, and I don’t mean this in a snarky manner, but maybe you would be happier to quit watching now. I loved the more serious toned earlier seasons more myself, but I know that there’s no going back now. Probably just the nature of a show on for a while. The tone changes. I still like the characters and some of the arcs, but I know some can’t adapt.
