The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching Wednesday

On TV this Wednesday: Whitney and Chelsea wrap their freshman runs with a series of unfortunate events, Psych battles an autopsy-turvy issue, Hot In Cleveland hosts reunions galore and more. In addition to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are eight programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm One Tree Hill (The CW) | In the series’ penultimate episode, as Haley prepares to emcee the Tree Hill Burning Boat Festival, Brooke uses the opportunity to process her father’s betrayal while Julian tries to breathe new life into an old idea.

8 pm Whitney (NBC) | Season 1 finale: An expired license sparks a chain of unusual events, interfering with Whitney and Alex’s wedding plans. Will Whitney’s dad (returning guest star Peter Gallagher) come to the rescue?

8:30 pm Are You There, Chelsea? (NBC) | Season 1 finale: After throwing a trashy birthday party for her sister, Chelsea must scramble to clean up Sloane before her husband (Boston Legal‘s Mark Valley) returns early from Afghanistan.

2012 Renewal Scorecard: What’s Coming Back? What’s Getting Axed? What’s on the Bubble?

9 pm Bent (NBC) | This week’s back-to-back episodes find Pete spotting Ben with another woman, Walt and Screwsie helping Charlie battle a bully, a wedding at Alex’s boss’ home — with Ben in tow — and more.

Happy Endings Preview: Penny Makes Jane Pregnant! Max and Dave Pimp Out Alex!

10 pm Psych (USA) | After a mortician brings Woody’s autopsy mistakes to light, Shawn and Gus try to figure out the real cause of death and save Woody’s job. Raising Hope‘s Kate Micucci and 3rd Rock from the Sun‘s French Stewart guest-star.

10 pm Whitechapel (BBC America) | In Part 1 of the Season 3 premiere, DI Chandler and DS Miles investigate a slaughter of four people that appears to echo a series of murders from 200 years ago.

10 pm South Park (Comedy Central) | Help us decipher this vague synopsis: “As mankind’s evolution begins to accelerate at a rapid and disturbing pace, another species on the planet is exhibiting the same drastic development. Eventually the two species will battle to the death and ‘Faith Hilling’ may be humanity’s only hope.” Anyone? Bueller?

10 pm Hot In Cleveland (TV Land) | Joy dates a guy she thinks is her teen crush Rick Springfield (guest-starring as himself); Victoria wants to fire the cleaning-averse cleaning lady (Cheers‘ Rhea Perlman). Also, Betty White and Georgia Engel reunite on the small screen 40 years after The Mary Tyler Moore Show, while Valerie Bertinelli’s Sydney co-star Craig Bierko also guest-stars.

  11. Bella says:

    Whitney, Bent and Psych

  12. For South Park! Is it another Snooki episode? #Hilarious!! :))))

  13. Juan says:

I guess just Happy Endings and catch up night, they should really put Cougar Town with Happy Endings to make it the funniest hour

    • CJ says:

I agree they would pair up well together, but unfortunately, I don’t think either is strong enough to attract enough audience without a big lead-in. History is full of shows that last several seasons but never successfully lead off an hour. I could be wrong, but while these 2 shows are much more like each other than either is with Modern Family, I don’t think they’d work on the schedule.

  14. bad kevin says:

Hope tonight marks the end for both WHITNEY & ARE YOU THERE, CHELSEA? Zou Bisou Bisou BOO HOO! :-( :-(

    >Help us decipher this vague synopsis:
I don’t know but on that show it’s gonna be quite interesting

  27. Liz says:

One Tree Hill, Happy Endings, and Hot in Cleveland.

    • Bmc says:

Absolutely LOVE Are You There Chelsea! Please come back!! Don’t cancel House or Fringe! Also, Ringer was a slow start, but became quickly addicting, as did unforgettable. all the good shows get canceled for these stupid reality shows that suck!

  28. theresa says:

Watching Survivor, Happy Endings & The Soup. DVR White Chappel.

  29. CJ says:

I have a feeling an early end to Whitney’s season won’t help on the renewal front. Far as I can tell, it’s running about 50-50, but this will give them several weeks to forget about it before the actual decision is made.

  30. rubytu says:

Psych the show that gets better every time you watch it!
