Exclusive: Criminal Minds Targets Tricia Helfer for Villainous Season Finale Role

Battlestar Galactica alumna Tricia Helfer will guest-star in the Season 7 finale of CBS’ Criminal Minds, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Helfer shared the news with us on the red carpet Saturday night at the 26th annual Genesis Awards, adding only the tease that she will be playing “definitely a bad character.”

CBS announced earlier this week that the Criminal Minds finale will run two hours on May 16, and involve an attack on a federal bank — and subsequently a hostage situation in which of the BAU members is held captive.

The finale will also feature a wedding, series boss Erica Messer told TV Guide Magazine, and pave the way for Paget Brewster’s Prentiss to (again) leave the canvas.

Beyond her memorable run on BSG, Helfer’s most recent TV credits have included TNT’s Dark Blue and NBC’s The Firm. She is also at work on the TNT pilot Scent of the Missing, starring as a tenacious K-9 Search and Rescue volunteer who works with a golden retriever named Puzzle. (With reporting by Vlada Gelman)

Girlfriend needs her own show. She’s way too talented to be on third-rate CBS drivel.

    • Justin says:

Criminal Minds is first-rate awesomeness! You couldn’t be more wrong!

    • This says:

Amen Sam. I hope Scent of the Missing gets picked up and is actually good. TNT doesn’t have a great track record with shows for me personally…but now that Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, and Tricia Helfer all may get shows on there…I will probably watch haha

  2. L..Pawloski says:

I love Criminal Minds. Will it be back for another season?

  3. luke says:

ohh c’mon tricia I thought you had higher standards!!!! not this crappy piece of television

    • Justin says:

Unlike you, she does given she chose this terrific show. Sorry, troll!!

      • luke says:

say wha? ohh and look up the definition of internet troll!!!

        • Justin says:

I’m simply saying Criminal Minds is the complete opposite of crappy television, so she does have good standards choosing to guest star on this show.

        • crappy comments section says:

Luke, you’re right – people do toss around the “troll” tage way too much. But it’s an understandable side effect of both actual trolls whose sole purpose is to antagonize and internetitus which is rampant and causes people to overstate their own opinions.
I suspect you fall into the later category.

  6. Eridapo says:

Awesome news. After the terrible news this week with regards to BSG:B&C it will be nice to see Number SIx once again on Television.

  7. Jeff says:

This so called actress needs to stay away from my shows. She killed Dark Blue and she killed The Firm, she is not an actress she is a show killer

  8. sarbel says:

‘BAU members is held captive.’ Prentiss to die for real this time?

  9. Edwin jahnes says:

Prestissimo doesn’t die this time- she leaves for another position .

  10. eliott256 says:

“and subsequently a hostage situation in which of the BAU members is held captive.” in which of the BAU?

    • Loki says:

Seriously. #BAD GRAMMAR. In which members of the BAU are held captive or in which one of the members of the BAU is held captive. But who cares… YAY TRICIA HELFER!

  12. Vero says:

After “To hell…and back” I swore never to watch another Criminal Minds season ender again…but a wedding? never say never…

  13. heythere says:

What the hell, has no one been paying attention to the show? Kevin and Garcia are getting married. He tried to propose to her in the last episode.

  14. Sarah says:

I’m hoping this wedding is JJ and Will’s because that would be totally unexpected whereas Garcia’s and Kevin’s would be obvious since he proposed not long ago. Also JJ’s mother, Sandy Jareau, is making an appearance. As for the BAU hostage I’m intrigued.. Hotch and Reid have had a hostage moment a few seasons ago, I’m doubting it’ll be Prentiss and Morgan and Rossi don’t seem like the hostage type so again it might be JJ as the finale is supposedly centred around her.. I love Criminal Minds and can’t wait to see this episode!!

  15. Kae says:

Um….tv guide says its will and jj’s wedding…..plus, they’ve been together way, waaaaayyy longer than Garcia and Kevin, so it would make more sense, they’re more committed to each other

  16. Jan says:

I don’t care if they all get married as long as the show comes back another season. Is there any word yet if Reid will be back?

    • Sarah says:

Criminal Minds has been renewed for season 8 but as for people coming back there’s no word as of yet. Obviously Prentiss is leaving, for the others I hope their all coming back with no new people
