Scoop: David Krumholtz Eyes Lead Role Opposite Michael Urie in CBS Comedy Pilot Partners

Get More: Casting News, Pilots

David Krumholtz PartnersDavid Krumholtz is nearing a deal to play the literal straight man opposite Michael Urie in Partners, CBS’ comedy pilot from Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

Partners follows two architects — Charlie (Krumholtz) is straight, Louis (Urie) gay — whose friendship has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage. When Charlie decides to propose to his girlfriend (One Tree Hill‘s Sophia Bush), Louis’ neurotic attempts to be supportive nearly result in the breakup of his own relationship. Erstwhile Man of Steel Brandon Routh costars as Louis’ boyfriend.

The project, which brings Krumholtz back into the CBS fold for the first time since his Numb3rs days (he’s even playing another Charlie!), is based on Kohan and Mutchnick’s own relationship.

  • Michael Uri and Bernard the Elf, I’ll watch! The only thing that could make this show better would be Becki Newton!

  • Wasn’t there a similar show with the exact same premise a few years back, starring Jon Cryer?

  • misha – David Krumholtz has done tons of comedy. Prior to Numb3rs, that was his primary thing, even way back to the movies Life with Mikey and Addams Family Values, which he did as a kid. He still pops up in Judd Apatow comedies from time to time.

As for his pairing with Sophia – at first it may seem a little odd, but have you seen Krumholtz’s real-life wife? IMDB Vanessa Britting – she’s gorgeous. There’s really nothing unusual about the pairing; it’s a lot like real life.

  • Dude, Krumholtz is sexy. He’s not a CW mannequin, but he’s attractive, plus funny and smart. Didn’t any of you see the episode of Freaks and Geeks when he came home from college and Lindsay was all gaga over him? Lindsay Weir knew what was up.

  • NO! I have been pretty happy with the cast so far. I don’t want to see this guy in every episode and he is not hot enough for Sophia. ugh

    • Haha. Have to agree about the mouth and eyes. Watched the entire series of Numb3rs recently and barely know what the rest of his face looks like. XD
