According to the fast nationals from Neilsen, the 84th Annual Academy Awards telecast averaged 39.3 million total viewers, up 4 percent versus last year’s tally. In the coveted 18-to-49 demo, the show held onto 100 percent of last year’s 11.7 rating.
The total audience represents the most-watched Oscarscast since 2010.
With ABC’s broadcast rivals largely taking a knee opposite the big show, the Academy Awards outperformed CBS, NBC and Fox combined by 140 percent on average, in the metered markets.
