FX has greenlit a Season 4 for the Emmy-nominated Archer, the cabler announced on Thursday.
The animated espionage series’ third season — airing Thursdays at 10/9c, with the finale set for March 22 — has been enjoying gains of 32 percent in total viewers and 44 percent in the 18-49 demo, compared to its sophomore run.
“It was an easy decision,” FX EVP Nick Grad said of the pick-up. “[Archer executive producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson] and our amazing voice cast are delivering one of the funniest and smartest shows on television. It has deservedly grown beyond its initial cult following to become both a critical and ratings success. It is a true asset to the FX comedy roster.”
In fact, it was also announced that FX Productions has inked a two-year overall production deal with Reed and Thompson, retaining the duo for any additional seasons of Archer and any new projects they develop. The deal also has Reed and Thompson’s animation studio, Floyd County Productions, continuing as the animators on Archer and FX’s Unsupervised, as well as tackling any new animated fare produced by FX Productions or developed by FX.
