Blue Bloods Scoop: Carrie Underwood and Tony Bennett Just Duet

Country superstar Carrie Underwood has booked a plum gig — on the CBS drama Blue Bloods.

On the Season 2 premiere of multi-generational family/cop drama, the übersuccessful American Idol and fellow multiple Grammy winner Tony Bennett will appear as themselves to perform a duet of “It Had To Be You” at a fundraiser that Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) and daughter Erin (Bridget Moynahan) are attending for the newly appointed mayor (Dexter alum David Ramsey).

“Having musical legend Tony Bennett and the hugely talented country music star Carrie Underwood perform on our show is a true gift,” Blue Bloods executive producer Leonard Goldberg says in a statement. “We’re looking forward to an exciting second season premiere with a story that is certain to provoke debate, and are thrilled that [they] can be a part of it.”

Bennett and Underwood first collaborated on “It Had To Be You” for Bennett’s new album, Duets II, due out Sept. 20. Bennett of course recently dueted with Idol champ finalist Haley Reinhart, on “Steppin Out With My Baby,” during the Season 10 finale.
