Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Trailer Reveals Massive Twist At The Heart Of Starz's Upcoming Prequel

The just-released full trailer for Outlander's upcoming spinoff lets viewers in on a giant twist at the heart of the prequel series, Blood of My Blood: Claire was hardly the first member of her family to travel through time.

What we knew before: The new series follows Jamie's parents, Scots Ellen MacKenzie (played by Pennyworth's Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor's Nest's Jamie Roy), and Claire's parents, Brits Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together's Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone's Jeremy Irvine).

"The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England," the official logline reads.

What we know now: The video above reveals is that Henry and Julia also go through the stones and wind up in 1700s Scotland, where they interact with Brian and Ellen.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Friday, Aug. 8, at 9/8c.

In addition to the posters and photos below, you can also see the love stories begin to unfold in the previously released teaser trailer, which involves grand estates, longing looks, wartime horror, bare thighs, horses and kilts — a little something for everyone!

Longtime fans of the original series also will recognize characters including Murtagh FItzgibbons Fraser (played by Rory Alexander), Colum and Dougal MacKenzie (Séamus McLean Ross and Sam Retford, respectively), Mrs. Fitz (Sally Messham), Jocasta Cameron (Sadhbh Malin), Ned Gowan (Conor MacNeill) and Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat (Tony Curran).

Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner and executive producer on the spinoff. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes. Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore also will be EPs, and Outlander author Diana Gabaldon will be a consulting producer.
